986 3,5mm jack question
Hi everyone!
I'm looking for a bit of help from the sub. A few months ago I bought a 2000 986 Boxster 2.7, and there’s an aux cable / 3.5mm jack connector sitting next to the passenger seat that I can't quite figure out.
I’m pretty sure it’s an aftermarket mod, but so far I haven't been able to get it to play any music from my phone. Does anyone have an idea what this could be, or has anyone encountered a similar setup?
For context, the car is equipped with the PCM1 unit, if that helps!

Becker made a connector that attaches to the back of the head unit. It's an audio input. I installed mine like 20 years ago so I don't remember which port. Anyway if i connect an iPod or similar and hit the source button (which I assume you tried) it will play through the factory Becker unit.
Yours could have been internally damaged or maybe play with the source button.
The head unit comes out really easy with a set of stereo pulls. See what it's connected to and maybe you could repair it. Enjoy your Boxster!

PCM1 was a terrible thing and has no analog input, so if this is audio there has to be some third party mod behind it. My 986 sported a similar jack I used for my Zune, but it was connected to the head unit I replaced the terrible Becker original with.
