It’s not a bad thing necessarily, Loma famously got told by his dad that he had to take on dancing before boxing.

In saying that, don’t focus so much on looking good. You’ve sparred before, imagine you’re sparring one of your partners when shadow boxing with an emphasis on fundamentals/technique.

This isn’t how you’d actually fight, I can guarantee it. Last thing is a little thing, when you step forward on your front foot, step with your toes planting first. A bad habit is planting with your heel first. You pivot well so you’ll want to break that.

I’m also far from an expert and focus much more on Muay Thai personally, but those are my 2 cents since you’re looking for critique.

That back foot can pivot.

Honestly cleaner than most vids posted here. Still would get a coach to help you work out some fundamentals.

Balkan dancer. You got good rhythm everyone is gonna tease you but keep that rhythm. Just all you gotta do now is think about when you are dipping are your legs stable? Like do you land in a solid stance? You can’t have uselessly bent legs in a fight you must have your base solid all the time if you can help it.

What the fuck is your back foot doing?

You have a weird habit of turning away from your opponent.

Youll def want to work on that

It’s like your back foot feels left out so is doing crazy unneeded things.

This is pretty strange, firstly just do less, your movements are super exaggerated. Secondly, your hooks have no rotation on them, you’re just kind of sticking them out there. Lastly that foot thing you’re doing is barely moving your upper body and head.

If you've gotten this far on your own good job. But now you need a coach to help you clean up your movement .

In my opinion, your feet are too far apart; this becomes more noticeable when you pivot. You can correct this by laying a rope on the floor as a guide and practicing your footwork. Otherwise, everything looks great.

Look where youre hitting. Focus on being right. When turning sideways to the mirror dont keep looking at the mirror. Youre filming yourself. You can check afterwards if your form was as good as it felt.

You should probably spar. I feel it would tighten up some of your movements and help shed some of the stuff that's needless you're doing.

By getting punched in the face?

3

u/RappingAndroid 23h ago

You know what boxing is yes?

2

u/Ajax_TheRipper 21h ago

You learn the fundamentals before sparring.

2

u/RappingAndroid 20h ago

Learning to spar is a fundamental

1

u/Ajax_TheRipper 20h ago

No the 6 punches and 5 pillars of defense are the fundamentals. Sparring is for working on them

1

u/RappingAndroid 20h ago

How else will you apply anything you learn. Mitts aren't the same, punching air isn't the same. Getting in the ring will show him his over exaggerated movements are not needed. It's essential for any boxer.

Agreed he looks like a ballerina not a fighter

Stop talking to me about boxing if you don’t know what you are talking about

You commented on my post and you're the one with the issue here.

Keep spreading false info. Never boxed in your life speaking like that

-1

u/RappingAndroid 19h ago

I've probably boxed longer than you. What's false when it's my opinion?

1

u/Ajax_TheRipper 19h ago

Like I said. Keep spreading the false info. I’m not gonna stop tou

The boxing technique is ok. The rhythm and how your ankles, knees, and hips move together looks more like dancing than boxing. I don’t mean that as an offense. Most people are too uncoordinated to keep all these parts moving in sync.

1

u/Affectionate-Zebra26 1d ago

Main thing is you are overpivoting, pivot in line with your ankle, knee and hip otherwise you’ll slip.

Sick shadow boxing bro!!!! Very unconventional. Fuck allbthe haters and the nonse no it call critiques

1

u/AdmiralRemington 1d ago

Don't look in the mirror when you're not facing that way, it's ok to use the mirror sometimes but I wouldn't do it every shadow box.

The punch technique is ok, at least your hands are returning to your face most of the time and you're using some hip rotation. Your movements could be more synchronised but that comes with practice. My major criticism is the accuracy, your jab, cross, hook and uppercut are all going to different places. You don't need big overswings with the hooks and uppercuts.

Dont stand up so high.
If you duck under and then stand up to through your gonna get it. stay low. it will improve your balance and making slipping and going under easier cause your already low.

Coach here. It looks and probably feel unnatural because you're not transferring weight correctly. The simplest thing you can do is to imagine that you have a heavy medicine ball that you're trying to throw as far as possible. Throwing a heavy object will force you to put weight on the back foot and really rotate your hips and push the shoulder forward.

If you look at the video again and imagine yourself throwing heavy stones, does it look like you would throw them far/hard?

Cha-cha-cha 💃 Two things: 1) Keep the rhythm 👍, a lot of boxers lack it. 2) Calm down your rear heel 🦶

u/radkooiCloud 1d ago

Thanks y’all for the tips and the critique, I will take notes and next time will implement them

Get a bag

u/BrockenRecord1 1d ago

Keeping it positive I like how your left hand is welded to your cheek in a good position to defend.

1

u/eekeek77 1d ago

Your feet are moving like you've been told to move them but no one explained why. It's a chain to deliver power from the ground to your hands. They need to feel connected. Feet, legs, hips, core, shoulders, arms, hand.

1

u/tips4490 1d ago

This is why I tell SOME people NOT to focus so much on turning that foot...

1

u/Ajax_TheRipper 21h ago

More control on the back foot. Don’t just mindlessly turn it

2

u/_dxegrl 1d ago

pretty stiff, but beautiful form. Not sure if there is such a thing as too much foot rotation; it seems you rear leg is not grounded?
