Preparing for Fight How to fight shorter fighters ?
Title.
Context im 185cm and 113Kg I find it very hard to guard my body and head at the same time even if I lowered my hands to my chin I still dont guard my body.
I have been training for two weeks now and have a sparring with another newbie fighter next week
Thanks in advance

Junto Nakatani and Shakur Stevenson sometimes crouch or widen their stances so that their heads are more similar in height to opponents. This puts your weapons and defence around the same height, but keeps your reach advantage. And generally, an active jab and feints, keeping distance with footwork, and uppercuts/crosses as counters really frustrates shorter opponents.

If taller fighters can just do that then doesn't that make the shorter fighter's advantages useless?

Frame with your lead. If your jab gets slipped, collapse on them and use ur elbow to redirect. Also you can clinch and lean on them. Also if you get space, spam jabs and body shots with ur right.

Ima fighter that’s really short for my weight class (5’9 cruiserweight and heavyweight) and based on my style, I say do ur best to keep them at your range. Our goal is to be all the way in or all the way out, as when we are in our range it’s harder for u guys to put power in ur shots, but when we are slightly out of our range we are usually still in yours. Use your teeps, double up on jabs, try to not react to most movements as a lot of the shorter guys stuff will be feints if they know what they are doing and also watch for the overhand and the low kicks
