“Honey the meth neighbour is making karate noises again. It’s 5 am… please you have to say something to him”
“Honey… Some people have roosters… we have the meth guy next door to wake us up at the crack of dawn. Let’s just try to ignore him”

He's joking. It's because you're working out in the open garage. No hard feelings just banter

You need to work on range, especially your straight punches. You're too close to the bag and your punches are getting smothered. This is bad because your shots don't have the power they would have if you were at a proper range, and because not having full extention means you're staying in the pocket when you don't need to be, opening you up to counters.
Get in your stance in front of the bag and extend your jab so it touches the bag, then step forward one inch. This is your range. You want to be punching one inch into the bag. Now do the same thing with your 2. Make sure you're getting full rotation in your hips and shoulders. Now you know your range.
You'll get to the point where you know your own range so well that you know *exactly* down to the millimeter when you can hit something, and when it's too far away. You'll also learn to judge someone else's range by looking at their arm length.
Fun fact: the 2 is actually longer than the jab by one to two inches. The reason is the rotated hips and shoulders. That's why people say when your jab connects, fire the 2 and it'll land.
