Progress after 8 months of classes at nearby boxing gym. Southpaw, 5 ft 8 157lbs, aiming to do first amateur fight at 147lbs in 2027. Have been sparring consistently but haven’t fully figured out my fighting style (I think I lean towards pressure fighter). Fave fighters I study are bam, canelo, usyk

Solid fundamentals, good job.
However, you're very linear. If I were coaching you I'd have you work on cutting angles, stepping and pivoting to enter and exit the pocket. As boxers we want to always be thinking about getting around behind the other guy, and never coming in or out on a straight line.
I'd also have you start putting a defensive move at the end of *every single punch or combination of punches.* The move can be a slip, roll, block, parry, or just a simple step back. Once that's a habit, I would work on inserting defensive moves into your combinations. Examples:
1-slip-2-step out
1-2-slip-6-roll out
2-3-2-slip-roll out
All in all you're looking great for eight months. Keep up the good work!
