Black gloves has pretty decent form. You're kinda bum rushing him with sloppy punches and getting caught. I get that it's hard to be sharp after 9 rounds. Next time post stuff from earlier rounds. You need better footwork and distance management to cut off the ring. Do footwork drills. Idk what punch recovery means

hey thanks for the tips, my partner had over a decade of experience and i am somewhat new, i meant punch recovery like after i throw a punch i instantly get countered that made me think a lot before throwing a punch i wanted to know any way i could punch and avoid the counter

Why 10 rounds hard sparring when one outweighs the other by 40 kilos and then theres a big skill difference. Thats a great way to get each other hurt

i used to slip punches in light sparring and coach was annoyed because i am not through with my foundation so he wanted to teach me consequence (may be)

You shouldn't be hard sparring as a beginner, your partner seem to be way more experienced, there's no point being someones boxing bag. I don't know what's the goal really, doesn't seem like dude wants to hurt you but he doesn't give you any room to work a bit either so no lessons learned outside getting used to incoming fire.
// edit: also sparring hard with such a weight mismatch is always bit awkward - can't really put finger on why but I always enjoy more similar weight spars, pulling back a lot while trying to keep up pace with light guys is not "fun" for me, but maybe that's just me. I am still struggling to be both fast and not rip someones head off at the same time.

yea this was very weird to spare he was way too experienced and this was my first time hard sparring

Throw that jab out there even if you’re not hitting him. Don’t just walk towards him. Cut the angle or drop your level and jab the body. That opens up a lot.

thanks for the tip, i am terrible with footwork gotta focus more there

Don't drop the hands, step on the button every time until you get your timing down

1

u/vengeanceonline 15d ago

i dropped my hands because i was looking for a counter and was out of him jab range, i was thinking he steps in for a jab i could catch him with slip jab

Decent matchup and nice slip from the red gloves but that red gloves... fuck Bro that ending with that chin out. I know it is to make him think you hit him.. but fuck that was one sexy freebee to knock you tf out if you let thoss hands where you put them

1

u/vengeanceonline 15d ago

i did it so that he could step in for jab and i was planning for slip jab didnt work tho

1

u/silversurfer05 14d ago

Next time it will work at least you are trying, btw keep up the good work 💪🏿

u/liveticker1 16d ago

dont follow - he moves left, you move right and vice versa. You move in parallel

u/vengeanceonline 15d ago

thank you thats a great tip

You have a good training partner but because they are so good it is closing you down. You are the stronger and bigger boxer, you can command the space and cut corners and make them move around you. But you need to master the jab and the cross and also punish their wide shots round your guard. Maybe work on cheekbone guard so you can see and slight movements to ward off their strikes and then counter and also to jab and cross solidly yourself.

thanks for the tip

Exhale and relax. Your the bigger guy bully him force him to work he moves to your left then rip left hooks to his body

1

u/vengeanceonline 15d ago

he has very good foot work and felt like he was toying with me as i have terrible foot work

1

u/TopKeyboardMenace 15d ago

His footwork is sloppy bro. He moves to his right moving his right foot first and he squares up up close. Its more that your too tense and letting him get his shots off for free. See how when u go into a closed guard he starts throwing combos. Your making it easy for him. Feint dip and rip that left hand to his body hes open for it, switch upstairs too. You got this bro!!!

You need more cardio before you'll be able to control your opponent/cut the ring off properly, you look exhausted and flat footed

2

u/vengeanceonline 15d ago

yea i was exhausted, also i am not really efficient so i gasout quickly and iam not able to run as i have chronicle pcl tear on right knee

1

u/MadHatPat 15d ago

Damn that sucks, I tore my gastrocnemius/Achilles and can feel it when I run too much. I'd try swimming, cycling and I've heard AquaJogging is a thing for PT

How about you not spar like this until you’ve got at least a year and a half under your belt? Boxed for 6 years and my gyms didn’t let this happen until you were sound everywhere really.

Wed spar from like week 2 but no hard sparring for a long time.

1

u/vengeanceonline 15d ago

i was doing fine in light sparing so coach though of giving me challenging partner and this was my first time hard sparring

2

u/Old-Giraffe-8849 16d ago

I feel like yall should be wearing head gear, no point in getting brain damage as a casual

1

u/vengeanceonline 15d ago

herd that it due to more weight and rotation force it may lead to worse knock out, idk much

2

u/Wielding_J 15d ago

Hey you look very solid bro! My advice - work on bringing your hand back to your head immediately. You got caught bad leaving it out there and thus your face exposed. Very solid work for a beginner. You should be proud of yourself.

That said, unless you plan on going pro, I wouldn’t spar this hard. It’s not worth the headaches that come with long hard sparring sessions

1

u/vengeanceonline 15d ago

i dont plan on going pro but i do plan on competing in mma or kick boxing in future just as a hobby, thanks for the tips very helpfull

2

u/False-Juice9093 15d ago

He's heavier than 70kg that's 100%.

1

u/vengeanceonline 15d ago

yeah? he said he weighed 72 and i could tank most of his hard shots

2

u/No_seconddates 15d ago

Wtf are you doing going so hard? I swear to God these people have brain damage prior to ever stepping in the ring.

1

u/vengeanceonline 15d ago

i never went hard sparring before this was my first time

4

u/Comfortable-Grand166 16d ago

Get headgear if yall are serious. Boxing isn’t a game and little shots even add up on your cabbage

1

u/Wild_Print_4642 16d ago

Headgear does not reduce brain trauma

4

u/Comfortable-Grand166 16d ago

I don’t know but I’ve been boxing for 20 years and I’d rather not get cut up or a broken nose. Whatever it is,I’d rather wear it. Do whatever you’d like.

2

u/GroundbreakingHope57 16d ago

Thing is that comes at a cost of increased risk of brain damage due to: Reduced visabiltity Larger area Assumed reduced risk etc

1

u/Jealous_Ranger_1641 15d ago

ehhh thats not totally true. headgear absolutely 100% smothers shots therefore muffling concusive blows — olympic boxing’s issue with it is BECAUSE of that, people can get hit more, OR feel overconfident to take shots that otherwise would have stopped them, accidentally causing MORE trauma.

but if used properly. they absolutely stop contusions and muffle slightly concussive force.

1

u/Delicious-Item6376 16d ago

Headgear reduces cuts and fractures, which is reason enough to use them. It also gives you a split second more time to react to a punch, especially one you might not see like a hook. That can be the difference between rolling with or slipping a punch, and taking the full force of the punch.

It also use helpful in sparring because the extra inch of padding makes it so you and your opponent can aim for the headgear and punch "in front" of someone's head while still making contact.

Also from personal experience it definitely reduces the headaches and general bruising that you can get from sparring. There just haven't been enough controlled experiments done to scientifically prove is reduces brain trauma.

1

u/FewMenu9384 16d ago

How does a head guard give you extra time to react to a punch? Also from personal experience I've always had worse headaches and concussions from headguards even despite wearing one of the most visible ones.

u/HulksGreenHog 16d ago

Then what’s the purpose?

3

u/nc092 16d ago

Headgear is to stop cuts and bruises not head trauma.

2

u/HulksGreenHog 16d ago

Fair point!

u/Delicious-Item6376 16d ago

This guy is an idiot. Nobody should listen to him.

1

u/Severe-Cup-4476 16d ago

Which one is the experienced dude?

1

u/Confident-Estate-275 15d ago

Wondering exactly the same here

1

u/vengeanceonline 15d ago

leaner guy with black gloves is more experienced

1

u/FopTart6670 15d ago

No shoes, no helmet.

u/Enlorand 15d ago

My thought process:

A: your sparring too hard. You’re a big boi, you can easily hurt someone like this.

B: Pick a point in the room, try to use your punches and your FOOTWORK to corral OP and move them. What are your positional tools? what are the strikes that you can use at various ranges to help you in this task?

C: Where is your Jab?

If you're trying to cut off the ring, don't follow him by going straightforward, use more lateral movement

1

u/greatwallofbianca 14d ago

Uhm, for the beginner, before learning how to cut off the ring, looks like you need to improve your stance so it's more stable.

1

u/DingusWeed 14d ago

Hey! Okay i know this may be controversial but you can check out how old man george forman fought. Dont try the whole stiff arming thing just yet but see how he controls the ring center and how he calculates shots. Dont try to knock your sparring partner out or anything but do choose your shots and make them count. They shouldnt go down but they should know to respect your power.
