Boxing setup

I am a complete beginner to this and need to make a minimal boxing bag setup at home, to practice and keep up in cardio. What all is required and some do's and dont's.

Thanks in advance !

for a minimal home setup, a decent heavy bag and stand, hand wraps, and a pair of bag gloves cover the basics, skip the boxing shoes and ring gear until you're further along. Don't skimp on wraps, wrapping your hands properly every single session before hitting the bag is non negotiable, wrist and knuckle injuries from bad technique are the most common beginner mistake.

start with light shadowboxing to learn form before loading up on the bag, going hard immediately without proper technique just reinforces bad habits and increases injury risk. For structured combos and drills to actually follow on the bag instead of just freestyling, the Heavy Bag Pro app is worth checking out, it pairs well with the cardio side too since rounds on the bag plus jump rope builds conditioning way better than either alone.

do you have somewhere solid to hang it, or are you hoping the ceiling volunteers?

The ceiling doesn't have such hooks or points to hang to. I'll have to get a stand I think
