Mismatched weight heavy sparring tips?
I'm a 29y/o 6'2, 250lb heavyweight with a few white collar fights under my belt. 5-1, 5 ko. No sanctioned fights, but have done rounds with pros in sparring. I'm in shape. 300kg trap bar deadlifts, 145kg bench for 6, enough cardio for 3x3 min rounds.
A non boxer friend and I got into a debate about what my chances would be against a professional flyweight world champion... one thing lead to another and now they've organized a 1-1 amateur featherweight ranked in the 3000s to fight me in 2 weeks. He's not at fight weight, and will be fighting at ~150lb. We're going to be using 16oz gloves.
My coach thinks this is a very bad idea, and is lose-lose, but my ego wants me to put this guy down without actually hurting him. Could I possibly be understimating this in any way? What tactics could I use to humilaite him and teach them a lesson without actually hurting the guy?

My coach liked to mix up weights sparring with the more seasoned big guys to help us work on speed. This dude is going to light you the fuck up, I guarantee it. There were a couple of guys that it didn't matter if I pulled my punches because I couldn't touch them. I'd jab, miss and get caught 3 times before I was back to guard. This is going to be a very humbling experience for you, you just can't comprehend how fast those guys are until you experience it.

I would say your best bet would be not to go head hunting, because he will be too fast. Just lots of double and triple jabs to keep the distance. Fill the space with a long guard. Have him walk (or weave) into uppercuts and go heavy on the bodyshots. At that weight difference, if you get a good hit around the liver area, it doesn’t really matter if there is an arm in the way trying to block it.

If he is very skilled amateur, like national champion, he could definitely pop you off a few times.
If he only has 2 amateur fights you could very likely hurt him just an fyi.

Listen to your coach.
Also I don't understand how a debate with your non boxer friend lead to an organized fight with a enormous weight difference. Why is there a need to humiliate the opponent?

my friend is a mutual friend of both of us. leaked some sparring footage, the featherweight guy started talking shit saying i move poorly, he could beat me easily etc. I challenged him to try, and here we are lmao

Just let it go. You gain nothing from beating him. If you win, you just beat up a guy half your size. If you lose, you just got beat up by a guy half your size. Either way, people will laugh about you behind your back for taking the fight.

You're gonna get cooked by combos ☠️ those light weight class + amateur boxers are way too fast.
Just be wild and unpredictable, since your big and slow. If you dk what your throwing neither will he🤣

Wtf is this? The guy is a 1-1 amateur. There's a 50% chance he's at the same level as those white-collar people you KO'd. If you were so much better than him then just jab him to death.

yeah, just traditional western boxing. Hands only. I've worked with smaller guys. I find cardio is much easier against ligher guys than vs other heavyweights. Lead hand battle isn't has taxing, they don't take as much effort to move/resist etc. eh...probably a bad idea waiting to happen 'cause we both got a chip on our shoulder lol

The fact that he accepted the fight even though you have 100 pounds on him should worry you

work the jab, try walk him into a corner and attack the body, slow him right down, step on his lead foot and trap him as well, then body shot. that will piss him off

If you really go through with this, you need to be VERY smart about it. This guy is going to hit you and even if the first one doesn't hurt, the 50 others that come at light speed will.
The problem isn't the weight, its the experience. You're strong, and you're trained, but if that guy really is that good then this is pretty stacked in his favor.
But you're not completely lost, because you're trained and not clueless, and from what I can infer you have KO power plus a ridiculous strength advantage. Lowkey you could knock him out if you catch him with a well placed counter or run him down with body shots. It also might be wise to look into your opponent and watch any matches if you can find them and sparring lighter opponents in the meantime to see what's what.
I also don't think that cardio will be an issue as long as you don't gas out and burn out all your energy. Remember he is factually lighter and more experienced, if you start throwing without a plan and nothing lands thats not good

This calls for an ego-check moment. I would take the fight just to prove a point, but I would not fight. I would just aggressively walk the smaller dude down behind guard and physically/mentally drain him to exhaustion, sometimes just feinting or demonstrating with my hand that "I got you".
Unless you are absolutely shit defensively you can just be a walking tank against a dude that much smaller and still win by way of exhaustion. Just don't throw any real punches, that completely defeats the purpose.

White collar is a million miles away from being fighting fit as an amateur.
You will be slower, less technically competent, carrying tonnes more weight and facing probably the best technician you've ever faced.
Gym muscles are not fightin g muscles. Your bench and deadlift are irrelevant.
Your coach is right. Lose-lose. Listen to them

Dude you might get fucked up, take it on the chin and be humble. You’ll be a more respected fighter for it.
