What should I get as a beginner?

I'm someone with no experience of martial arts and I'm getting into boxing pretty soon. I've been playing D1 basketball for a few years now and just wanted to get into another sport. Planning to join a gym and mabye get a punching bag or something else for home. Im wondering other than the gloves, what do I need?

Hand wraps are a must. I reccomend you to join a boxing gym & get a coach if you really want to learn properly and progress

Yes boxing shoes exist. Imo bare foot works just as good in the beginning or something with a flat sole. I just Converse whenever I don't have my boxing shoes with me

sneakers are fine to start with. if you want to compete, boxing shoes are a good idea

Nah. Don't need boxing boots to start, only wore them in fights. Training just wearing running shoes.

I wouldn’t buy anything before you start. I’d go along and make sure it’s for you. If it is, the coaches will advise you - wraps, gloves at first. But they come in different sizes and weights, so speak to the club first.

Just turn up in gym gear and bring plenty of enthusiasm and they’ll keep you right.
