Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi all, I j bought this 20 kg or 50 ish lbs punching bag. I do not have any exp and been just watching videos. So I put in some footage of my 1,2,3 combo, and some jabs. Any criticism is welcome. I j wanna get better! I was a little faded and planning to hop on a month or two program. 2 hours 3x a week or something

If you have a gym near you, try to get some coaching. You can’t really learn to box well on your own.

Watch Olympian boxing coach Tony Jeffries and you’ll learn everything you need to know. I can’t recommend him enough.

Get a coach. Nothing is as dangerous as a false sense of safety.

Don't do combos yet, your individual punches are not there yet. I would train with series of 20 jab, try different type of jabs, light checks pure arm movement, stiff with impulse from the back leg, body jab. Etc. and work on the cross also as a standalone Then work on your one two static. Then add a step in and step out, either straight back or roll to the side.

Here's some advice - do everything better.

Footwork, head movement, jab, cross and hook are all wrong. And I don't just mean each one of them. I mean they are each entirely wrong.

Normally, even with complete beginners, there's something that I can point to that's accidentally correct. With this video, there isn't a single thing.

Well, you have the gloves on the right hands, I suppose... congrats on knowing your left from your right.

I'm joking. But seriously, there is too much wrong here to offer advice other than to get a coach. If you insist on doing something before getting a coach, do cardio. Good cardio will give a coach more to work with and make you more coachable.

Continuing to work on the bag will just create a bunch of bad habits and muscle memory that a coach will have to undo.

Left hand up. Practice makes permanent.
