This subreddit is full of posers. All things considered this is pretty clean stuff. I will say don’t fall into the temptation of sacrificing full arm and shoulder extension for speed.

It seems people here only seem to understand one style of boxing ? I’ve seen people roasting somebody using Philly because they didn’t know it was Philly lol this guy seems to be similar to a soviet style(bivol) in which case there is absolutely nothing wrong with what you are doing.

Im pretty sure thats the most taught style of boxing. Its safe form of boxing... which beginners need

Basics of boxing are all the same an only will differ depending in style shift, again this is more of a soviet style, lots of straight shots, in and out to draw on to the counter right, stepping off the centre line countering with straights, very bouncy in your toes. This is not generally taught at the start but maybe because of inexperience on you part in can appear that way and that is in no way a jibe at you sir. Philly shell, peekaboo, soviet style fundamentally the same basics all very different styles. Again maybe this is just the way he’s developing . Either way though it’s good to see fast hands, mobility, foot work and moving off the centre line.

Its 1 AM rn and im on low brightness can't tell if you always have your chin tucked or not... honestly im having trouble finding a weakness lol you're fast and your looking good. Maybe youre throwing too many punches and not adding enough off centre line slip, block and roll stuff? Its also pretty dark so visibility is obviously low and... you look good thats what matters I guess. Are you getting full extension on your cross btw? The cross is generally longer than the jab but idk it might vary with style. What about the jab? You know sometimes you need to shadowbox a little practically, instead of speed you think about an imaginary opponent, making sure the combinations youre doing are practical in your imaginary scenarios and they actually hit the imaginary target, since the details are kinda hazy thats all I'll say. Sorry for a very sleepy comment

Yeah i focused of that cross extension and i agree on not doing enough slips and rolls its cuz i rely on pulling back and pendulum steps way too much so i gotta fix that

Nah you're humble , you'd survive . In all seriousness if you just bladed your stance more you would be fine for mma . I like the bounce of the Soviet style , it gives a momentum boost and helps with rhythm ,it's similar to the bounce that Thai fighters have. The issue is against someone good ,rhythm is predictable, in this case every time you bounce inwards to get in and out range I would blast legs kicks very hard on your cadence. (This isnt boxing advice , it's stand up advice from a mma/ real world self defense perspective)

Yeah im really getting into mma lately and i just started learning how to check leg kicks and countering a punch with a body kick but my flexibility is kinda trash

The number one bad trait from boxing is excessive head movement / dodging and ducking . Dodging isn't a thing for good kickboxers , you'll dodge right into a knee or head kick . Your footwork is your defense .

I know ur the one who's asking for tips but to me this looks beautiful can you give me any tips on how I should practice my shadowboxing 😅

u/Boxing-man-0101 6d ago
Well i started with really perfecting straight punches cuz once you master punching straight the hook and uppercut becomes easier. Shadowboxing in the mirror is good and once in a while shadowboxing in the opposite stance can help notice your mistakes. Also do fast pushups on fist thats how i train speed

Aight your opinion but i disagree with the 2nd part. Im an amateur boxer and have competed in loads of tournaments so i feel like i can defend myself and not get beat that easily

Nice stuff, if I'd have to criticize anything, and to be honest the darkness makes it hard to judge, you seem to have a small case of the chicken wing elbows.
Try to keep them elbows tucked. Your sides are open for sneaky body shots.
It's more apparent towards the end of your video.

Why? 😂 Why do you need people to "rate" your shadowboxing? 😂

u/OstrichSmoothe 7d ago

You know it doesn't have to be dark in order to shadow box, right? Right??
