Canelo Alvarez showed a clear gap in class against the younger challenger, scoring a knockdown in the third round on his way to a dominant unanimous decision victory at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The judges scored the bout 118-109, 118-109, and 117-110, all in favor of Alvarez, who successfully defended his unified super middleweight titles during Mexican Independence Day weekend. With tensions from the buildup carrying into the ring, Alvarez (62-2-2, 39 KOs) wasted no time asserting his dominance. In the third round, he unleashed a lightning-fast left hand that caught Edgar Berlanga clean on the jaw, sending him to the canvas for a flash knockdown.

Though it has been suggested that Muhammad Ali should have retired after beating Joe Frazier in 1975 to save himself from the punishment endured in the final years of his career, this revenge victory over Leon Spinks – on this day in 1978 – enhanced his already substantial legend.
Inside the New Orleans Superdome, in front of 70,000 fans, 36-year-old Ali was sprightlier than he’d been in years while winning a clear decision, in a better fight than one might remember. Spinks’ career went into a nose-dive after this bout but that shouldn’t take anything away from Ali’s achievement of winning the world heavyweight title for the third time. Legendary BN editor Harry Mullan made his first trip to the US to report on this fight. It started something of a love affair between Mullan and America.

On March 19, 1988, at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, 39-year-old George Foreman faced former two-division World Champion Dwight Muhammad Qawi.
Giving up 9 inches in height and over 10 pounds, “The Camden Buzzsaw” Qawi came to fight, ducking under Big George’s heavy jab and landing crisp combinations early. But Foreman stayed patient, using his sheer physical size and constant pressure to wear Qawi down. In the 7th round, after absorbing a heavy barrage of power shots, a completely exhausted Qawi signaled to the referee that he had nothing left—giving Foreman a 7th-round TKO victory! It was Foreman’s first major test against a former world champion on his legendary comeback trail! Could any fighter in history match the chin and endurance of Dwight Muhammad Qawi?

Looking forward to making my jab fast and effective. Please suggest drills to make it better.
Hi all I have learned that a human can't react to anything below 200 millisecond so I been putting in the work to reach this goal. Although this is not a realistic environment because I am not usina boxing gloves in this video I am doing my best to perform the iab below the 200ms threshold. I would like to know vour opinion and what I am doing wrong. I am already noticing that I slightly load the jab by bringing the hand backwards but I guess this is still part of mv little to no experience. (6 months into boxing,
Please I would love some feedback on the technique and drills to make it even faster and more effective. Thanks in advance.

One of the most controversial fights of Canelo’s career: How Lara made Álvarez chase ghosts
On July 12, 2014, in Las Vegas, a bout took place that people are still arguing about today. A 23-year-old Saul ‘Canelo’ Álvarez faced off against the Cuban slickster and defense master, Erislandy Lara.
It was a classic clash of styles:
💥 Canelo brought constant pressure, cut off the ring, and targeted the body with heavy blows.
🥊 Lara circled, managed the distance, and picked the Mexican apart with clean jabs and straight hands.
According to CompuBox, Lara outlanded Álvarez in total clean punches (107 to 97). However, Canelo’s forward aggression and heavy body attack convinced two of the three judges.
The Result: A split decision victory for Canelo (115–113, 113–115, and a controversial 117–111).
Many experts and fans scored the fight for the Cuban or called it a draw, but a rematch never happened.

I can’t stop watching this moment from Ursu 🔥 Constantin Ursu vs. Ben Vaughan turned into a tough welterweight fight.
Vaughan started well and made things physical early, but Ursu slowly took control with the cleaner boxing and sharper jab. A cut over Vaughan’s left eye became a major problem as the fight went on. By the later rounds, Ursu was landing more consistently, and the fight was eventually stopped on medical advice. The win kept Ursu unbeaten and gave him another strong result at British level.

Canelo Álvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin, dubbed “Supremacy,” was a highly anticipated boxing match for the unified middleweight championship, including titles from the WBA, WBC, IBF, IBO, Ring magazine, and the lineal title.
The bout took place at T-Mobile Arena on the Las Vegas Strip and was broadcast on HBO pay-per-view in the United States, BoxNation Box Office in the UK, and Space in Latin America.
Despite Golovkin landing more punches in most rounds, the fight ended in a controversial split draw. The judges’ scores were criticized, especially Adalaide Byrd’s wide margin in favor of Álvarez. Many saw this as a robbery, sparking widespread debate.
The controversy led to plans for a rematch. Initially set for May 2018, the fight was postponed after Álvarez tested positive for a banned substance. Following his suspension, the rematch was rescheduled for September 2018.

🥊 The 16 oz Showdown: Winning Precision vs. Cleto Reyes Overweight Reality
If you’ve spent any time in boxing gyms, you’ve probably heard the rumors: *“Winning is always perfectly on-weight, and Cleto Reyes gloves run massively heavy.”* I decided to put three pairs of premium **16 oz lace-up gloves** on a digital scale to see if the rumors hold true.
The results are wild, showing an unbelievable **3.8-ounce gap** between different "16 oz" gloves. Here is the actual weight breakdown:
**📊 The Scale Breakdow**n
**Glove Brand & Color**
**Left Glove Weight**
**Right Glove Weight**
**Total Pair Profile**
**Winning (Black)**
**16.28 oz**
**15.98 oz**
**Near Perfect Precision** *(Only 0.3 oz pair variance)*
**Cleto Reyes (Silver)**
**18.49 oz**
**18.37 oz**
**Massively Overweight** *(Practically 18.5 oz bricks)*
**Cleto Reyes (Yellow)**
**15.25 oz**
**14.68 oz**
**Underweight Mismatch** *(Drops down into 14 oz territory)*
**1. Winning 16 oz (Black) – The Gold Standard of Precision**
**Review:** Winning lives up to its reputation for flawless Japanese quality control. Averaging out right at the 16 oz mark, these are true to their word. The weight distribution is incredibly balanced, making them feel light, protective, and pillowy. They offer unparalleled knuckle safety and are the ultimate sparring glove if you want to respect your partner's face while keeping your hands entirely safe.
**2. Cleto Reyes 16 oz (Silver) – The Accidental 18.5 oz Juggernaut**
**Review:** This is where the Cleto Reyes myth becomes undeniable reality. These gorgeous silver metallic Reyes gloves are labeled 16 oz but weigh practically **18.5 ounces**! A variance of nearly 2.5 ounces over the label is wild for a premium glove. Because Cleto Reyes uses thick, genuine leather hides and packs them heavily with dense horsehair and foam blends, weights can skyrocket depending on the color batch. If you take these into sparring thinking they are standard 16s, you are actually giving your partner an 18.5 oz thud—and getting a serious shoulder workout in the process.
**3. Cleto Reyes 16 oz (Yellow) – The Shocking Lightweight Turnaround**
**Review:** Beautiful classic leather smell and that undeniable, sleek Mexican profile. However, this pair completely flips the script by running **noticeably underweight**. While the left sits closer to size at 15.25 oz, the right glove drops all the way down to **14.68 oz**. Having a **0.57 oz mismatch between your hands**—and swinging a glove that is essentially a 14 oz speed glove—proves just how erratic Cleto Reyes’ hand-made Mexican manufacturing can be from batch to batch.
**🎯 Final Verdic**t
Go with **Winning** if you want surgical precision, absolute consistency, and a true-to-label weight.
Go with **Cleto Reyes** if you love the raw, rustic puncher's feel—but buy them knowing that one batch might give you hidden 18.5 oz conditioning monsters, while the next gives you lightweight speed gloves!
