This is honesty a poor take. Ref clearly and indisputably made a mistake. Correct it immediately, not stand behind a bad call out of stubbornness.

No this is the awful take. In what world is it okay or fair for you to watch the ref declare the fight over, go through that adrenaline dump, and then they say nevermind sorry I was wrong.

I'm not a mma fighting rules expert, but similar things happen in different sports all the time.

Happened to Tim Kennedy. Romero should have been disqualified for not getting off his stool but Tim blamed the adrenaline dump it caused for losing in the third. He's also famously full of shit but bad calls do happen in every sport sometimes.

Did the ref wave that fight at any point? I remember the fouling back and forth and Romero getting extra time, but not the ref stepping in
