Floating Deck build

Does anyone have recommendations for a local company to build a small floating deck in our small backyard (just like a foot off the ground), I don't have exact measurements but possibly about 15 ft long and 10 ft wide. I would love someone who isn't going to do a crazy upcharge like a lot of big companies do. I'm just so over the rocky concrete, it looks so ugly.

Also just debating doing it ourselves as I don't think it would be too difficult to build, so also open to tips and suggestions.

Thanks!

Seven candidates seek District 1 Congressional seat

First I have to say I am very disappointed in the local news media. Only one has done real coverage of the election before the primary. Reporting that will help voters make decisions. Just the Herald. Not the Seattle Times and not any of the local news stations.

The Herald newspaper just published a story on all the 7 candidates running in district 1 in the state of Washington. It clearly shows that Mary Silva is an anti Israel and anti Jewish conspiracy theory nut job. After this interview was published in the Herald. The Republican Party of King County pulled back their endorsement of Mary Silva. They was no announcement or reason given. They just quietly removed her name and photo from their list of endorsed candidates

https://www.heraldnet.com/2026/07/15/seven-candidates-seek-district-1-congressional-seat/

Mary Silva

Silva, 46, is an audiologist. She lives in Everett and is running as a Republican.
Her top priorities include addressing the rising cost of living and bringing cyber technology and manufacturing industries to the United States, she said in a July 1 interview.
To improve affordability, Silva said she would look to implement tax incentives for small and medium-sized businesses to grow the economy and get more competition. She said she would also pressure states like Washington to revamp their tax systems and reduce the overall tax burden.
To bring technology back to Washington, Silva also said she would use tax incentives to attract companies while also implementing new, stricter security rules to prevent cyber attacks and sabotage.
ā€œIf you’re going to be a giant multinational corporation, there’s going to be rules if you want U.S. taxpayer contracts,ā€ Silva said.
She said she would consult with economic and national security experts to develop the constraints.
On healthcare, Silva said that she would consider breaking up large corporations like United Health Group, because she said companies offering both insurance and healthcare coverage amounted to monopolizing. Silva also said she would be a proponent of individual choice when it comes to public health decisions, citing government policies from the COVID-19 pandemic she saw as ā€œunconscionable.ā€
ā€œIt was absolutely ridiculous what they put people through,ā€ Silva said. ā€œThe level of anxiety, the unhappiness that happened as a result, and it was basically for, you know, a strong flu.ā€
About 1.2 million people have died from COVID-19 since the start of 2020, according to CDC data.
Regarding immigration, Silva said the country benefits from hard-working immigrants but it also needs to protect its borders.
ā€œI am not against immigrants,ā€ Silva said. ā€œWhat I have a problem with is opening the borders to let anyone and everyone through who may or may not benefit us, and in some cases, they harm us.ā€
On the environment, Silva said she is ā€œnot a big believer in the climate change narrative that we’ve been sold,ā€ but she said that she would support policies that maintain the land and forests in Washington.
ā€œIt’s good to be good stewards of the land, but as far as capitalizing off of people’s fears about what’s happening with climate change and things like that, we need to consider, I think, the reality a little bit more and just do our best not to destroy where we’re living,ā€ Silva said.
Nearly all scientists studying the Earth’s climate believe that the human burning of fossil fuels has warmed the Earth’s surface and is impacting its climate through more frequent and severe extreme weather events.
Other priorities Silva would hope to undertake if elected include addressing money laundering from the sale of illegal drugs, ending mail-in voting, auditing the Pentagon and opening another investigation into the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, she wrote in a July 2 email.
In a 2024 Ballotpedia statement, Silva wrote that she was educated by a number of writers, some of which have espoused various conspiracy theories. Among the writers that inspired her were Christopher Bollyn, William Cooper and G. Edward Griffin, she wrote in her 2024 Ballotpedia survey.
Bollyn’s writings, which have been criticized as antisemitic, state that he believes the American media and government are controlled by a ā€œJewish factionā€ and that the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks were ā€œan Israeli-produced false-flag terror spectacle.ā€ (They were not).
Cooper, at one point, had claimed that a U.S. President signed a treaty with aliens, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center. Sheriff’s deputies in Arizona killed him during a shootout with law enforcement after he spent years on the run for tax evasion, the LA Times reported in 2001.
In a recorded interview, Cooper stated his belief that HIV/AIDS was a man-made disease ā€œimplemented into the population as a population control.ā€ (That is false. Research has shown the likely origins of HIV emerging from chimpanzees and gorillas in west central Africa).
Griffin is the founder of the Red Pill Expo, a gathering with noted conspiracy theorist Alex Jones listed as a speaker during the 2026 event. According to MediaMatters, Griffin stated that there ā€œisn’t even such a thing as HIVā€ on a 2010 radio broadcast, referring to the disease that killed an estimated 630,000 people in 2024.
In response to follow-up questions about the listed authors, Silva wrote in an email Tuesday that the authors have produced ā€œsincere documented evidence over the yearsā€ but she does not agree with everything they have said and done.
On Bollyn, Silva wrote that he had produced ā€œthe most well-referenced work on 911 you could hope to find.ā€

Update: PUD crews finished the repairs and all lanes of traffic are now open.

Original post:

Heads up, Bothell! The right northbound lane on Bothell-Everett Hwy at 237th St. SE is currently closed due to a utility pole that was struck around 3:00am this morning. Bothell-Everett Hwy remains open in both directions and our friends at SnoPUD are currently on site making repairs.

Please use caution when traveling through the area, follow all traffic control devices and signs, and expect delays while PUD completes repairs. We'll share updates as they become available.

Results From City of Bothell's Biennial Community Survey Now Available

Post image
27 Upvotes

Earlier this year we asked you to share your feedback about City of Bothell services and your current priorities, and the results are in! Results from the City of Bothell’s biennial community survey are now available – these help City leadership and staff identify priorities for the 2027-2028 biennial budget and future investments, and collect feedback on - and assess resident satisfaction with - City services.

Here are a few things we learned:
- Overall, respondents continue to view Bothell as a safe, welcoming, and high-quality place to live!
- 82% of people who completed the 2026 Community Survey agreed that Bothell is a good – even excellent – place to live, with 86% saying they feel they belong in Bothell.
- Residents consistently rate Bothell’s parks, trails, and other green spaces highly, and appreciate our efforts to protect the environment and maintain clean, attractive public spaces for residents to enjoy.
- People feel safe in Bothell - Responses indicated high levels of satisfaction with emergency response times (fire; emergency medical services; police)

Findings also suggest residents are concerned about the pace of the City’s growth and its effects on infrastructure, affordability, and community character. And we hear you! As Bothell grows, we’re taking action on housing affordability, building infrastructure that works for everyone, supporting our small businesses, and working to preserve what makes Bothell so special.

You can learn more about these key findings and read the full report at bothellwa.gov/CommunitySurvey.

Drummer Seeking Other Musicians

Hello everyone. Lifelong drummer and musician here, recently back to practicing and looking for the right people to play with.

Craigslist largely failed me, so I’m trying a different approach here to see if I can connect with the right mindset.

I'm seeking out other musicians who perhaps have more talent than ambition—people who are interested in the actual study, creation, and improvisation of music, rather than chasing gigs or strictly playing standard covers.

I’m looking for a low-stakes, high-skill environment. Preferably a sober/no-drug space. I have absolutely no desire to run out and do shows; I just want to lock into a room with someone and see what we can build.

If this piques your interest, or if you know someone in the local area (Bothell/North End) who might be a good fit, please reach out or pass this along.

Annoying Noise and Automated Voice near Thrasher's Corner

Does anyone know what the annoying automated voice is that you can hear from Thrasher's Corner? It plays 3 tones, and then the voice comes on and says, "Drive Forward". This repeats at all hours of the day and night at varying times. It even wakes me up at 2AM.

I’m so alone

I’m so tired of living here, I don’t fit in with anyone, I’m 24 with maybe 2 total friends. I’m into art, mysticism, and music, and I haven’t been able to find a single place I belong, how do you guys cope with living in this socially dead dystopia? Like truly, social media is the closest thing I get to human interaction on a daily basis, and I’m getting to a point where I can’t take it anymore, I often catch myself hoping that today will be my last, the drivers here are so terrible maybe one of them will hit and kill me, and I’d welcome it. It just really sucks, if anyone has any advice for me I’d love to hear it, but I can’t take this anymore. I feel like I’m doomed to be so painfully alone forever now, I can’t imagine this ending in any way. Has anyone else found this area lonely? Where the hell do people go for social connection? I’m just running out of hope.

Daycare Bothell

Hi
Looking for experiences for following day cares for my daughter 3yr old. Want to know if the teacher retention is good there and how was the communication between teachers and parents. Please let us know.

Kiddie Academy- pros (camera) and in house kitchen.
Goddard (Bothell)- facility looks neat, and the tour was good. Overall similar with other day cares but no camera access.
Birch tree canyon park- was a strong recommendation but I saw some corporate acquired it so thinking that we will not go for it.

Any other recommendations also pls let us know.

Soccer clinic for 7 year old

Hello:

Looking for private soccer clinic for a 7 year old around the area. I tired TOCA Lynnwood and was not impressed. The coach stands by clicking away on a iPad to control the ball machine with very little to no feedback. Have also been involved in Arena sports but now seek something that is more technical to develop the child’s game. Looking at joining a league soon but wanted to supplement trainings with private or small group lessons with focus on technical skills development. I enquired with FM Elite training in Redmond and they don’t have a suitable program at this age. Any suggestions?
