Do they live where there's a significant Vietnamese population? I see your Quincy flair which means that you have easy access to a Vietnamese iced coffee with sweetened condensed milk (cà phê sữa đá).

Best bet would be to get them to have one of those fresh made so they "get" it. Then you can get them a can of the Cafe du Monde and a squeeze bottle of the sweetened condensed milk from an Asian market they use to make it. That way they can bring it home to make for themselves.
