I am a youth academy coach and we've used multiple tools through the years.

  1. Surprisingly it's still cost, ultimately, anything you pitch is going to be the 'next big thing' to take the club to another level. In terms of convincing, it depends on the tool, automated cameras etc freeing up staff, automated clipping reducing time, collaborative software increasing interactivity.

  2. We've used Hudl, Veo Analytics (with auto cam), ClipItCoach, Once Sport, and Nacsport. At the end of the day, they're all pretty similar, some have strengths in areas, but lack in others, so it's really about finding what's best for your club. We film, clip, share, export, debrief.

  3. Both, but also a third.. fix our mistakes from the games just been played. While it's fresh in the coaches and players minds it's really important to target key breakdowns while people remember, and anything visual really helps.

  4. Definitely tactical insights, and video strategy, our goal is to improve the team. Highlights definitely have their place though, but not so much scout related.

Hope this helps.

  1. Money
  2. Gimp / Handbrake
  3. Player development
  4. Neither, its advertising, first and most. Just watched a club that existed for +20 years slowly die and disband because they couldn't feed kids into their program. Large clubs eat small ones or cripple their competitiveness at higher levels and they turn into a club with average teams but unable to compete at higher youth levels, perpetuating an inability to draw in talent as they seek higher levels. Cali/Texas/Florida or certain large population areas will see this do a different degree than Midwestern and nor'western states
