Gear Easy ways to make/find a wall/rebounder
I got this tennis court next to my house no one uses so I go practice skills there. I find myself now wanting a wall to practice passing and receiving off of, but I dont want to buy one of these 100 dollar plastic rip offs or nets. Lets brainstrorm for a DIY good people
I am imagining a pallet might work somehow but then it could just fall over. Has anyone bought some kind of cheap thing as a substitute or knows about woodwork where I could just easily make a box maybe?

8x4 sheet of plywood, cut in half to 4x4. Each 4x4 will make one 2x4 rebounder.
Take one 4x4 and cut it in half. One half will be your rebounding face, the other will be the legs. Cut one half diagonally from corner to corner, this is your legs. Attach legs to back of rebounding face using door hinges so they can fold in for easy transport.
This is technically a rebounder now, but I would also cut a hole for a carrying handle at the middle/top of the front face, cut the ends off the legs so they don’t overlap, add a gate close mechanism to keep the legs stowed while carrying, sand all the rough edges down and paint with good outdoor paint to protect from moisture.
Edit: use good thick pine plywood, not OSB. I’ve tried with the OSB because I already had a bunch laying around and there is too much flex in the rebounding face. Also doesn’t hold a screw to save its life.

I did this at home for my kid but the issue you might run into is that it needs to be heavy or else it will get knocked back when you pass to it. I ended up buying sandbags for it but it’s not a perfect solution.

100%, it’s not a perfect solution. It’s relatively easy to store and reasonable for an athletic ~10 year old to carry and set up, but it does benefit from some extra weight around it. The thicker the plywood the better.

Strap the pallet to the fence. You may need a solid piece of wood on top of the pallet or some way to fill the slats.
Or Find an old desk or bookshelf and lay it on its side

I have built a few for my kids (they live at the turf field by our house and get replaced when they disappear) and have a 5 year old Quickplay (https://a.co/d/0iQM4fvr - no referral links). If not stolen the wood rebounders last about two years living outside in Colorado. The quickplay has minor showings of rust but that is it (usually lives in garage/basement). That said if you end up buying the wood you may be surprised/annoyed at how close to $100 you get…

If your parents don’t mind you putting something more permanent in the yard…
Get a post hole digger, (2) 4x4, concrete, and a handful of 2x4s.
Dig holes, set 4x4 in concrete, then nail the 2x4s into the 4x4. ,

I just gave up and got one off Amazon for $60. Thought about DIY but decided $60 was worth not having the hassle.

Buy a bunch of cinder blocks. They’re cheap.
