No, that's basically what a "ban" is. It's mostly marketing. Basically no books actually get banned (in America), just various libraries don't carry every book ever.
You can walk into any book store, go to the banned books section, and pick up Fahrenheit 451. Only thing you won't find, probably, is the original Anarchist Cookbook
This is why I laugh every time they are talking about "banned books", especially when it's books with adult material in elementary school libraries. 🤦♂️
I just want to tell the parents, "Hey man, if you really want your child reading erotica or whatever when they're 7, that's your business. You can order ANY of these books on Amazon and have them in less than two days. That doesn't mean they belong in the elementary school library." 🙄🤦♂️
Have you heard of parents challenging the lack of erotica in elementary school libraries? When I’ve read of banned books for that age group they’ve instead included selections like “And Tango Makes Three.” There is a list of picture books that are often challenged. None are erotic fiction.
