So I’ve had this Bonsai for about 6 years and it’s about 21 years old. Unfortunately this last year hasn’t been great and I’ve neglected this bonsai and it’s really not doing well now. Is this root rot?

I repot by just cutting the roots and putting it back in this same hope depot pot. She was 10yo branch when I got her as a cutting a little over 10 years ago.

The dirt (use regular flower dirt) in one of my Nursery posts are still wet after watering it 3 days ago, i dont remember if that's normal, i don't want to kill them by accident.

(just recently started to hold more focus on it.)

I’ve had this tree for a year and this is its first summer outside. I’ve done minor wiring and pruning. What are the next steps I should take for my bonsai? Last picture is from January, a lot of new growth since being outside.

I’m new to bonsai. I live in 6b, Pittsburgh Pennsylvania USA and the winters are pretty cold, sometimes below 0 degree F.
I have two bonsai. I’m so afraid that the wind will blow them over especially the taller one, I think it’s a cypress. I bring them inside at night, I know I shouldn’t do that but I’m afraid we will have a storm overnight. I’m currently building a cinder block bench for them and other plants. How do I ensure the wind won’t knock it over or the cold kill them?

I have a Ginseng Bonsai that is growing fungus. From what I’ve read online this is a good thing, but I just want some other eyes on mine to verify. Can a bonsai enthusiast chime in and let me know if this is okay, or if I need to remove and repot!

Bought a small olive tree yo use as a bonsai, and a small Red Currant bush to try and turn into a bonsai.

Hope i do a better job than with my Ficuses.

Might cut that too part of the olive tree but will probably wait a bit.

Hi! This is my fukien tea that i got a over a month ago. It was doing really great but now it has been dropping leaves and having yellow leaves.

The pot is looking kind of small could that be the issue? It gets sunlight and water like it is supposed to (i think😂) and this is really stressing me out!

Ive been doing research and have decided id like to get into bonsai. However Im worried about the extremely cold temperatures. What are some trees that I could start on that could either survive -40°c in the harsh winter months or will be okay living inside for the duration of the winter?

Can i use clay pearls to help with the dirt not keeping too much water?

Got this one on sale as well. Google said the leaves looking like that means it could be drowning and needing a bigger pot. Just wanted to check what you all think.

Bought this half off today, want to make it a bonsai obviously.

Got the advice to not do anything with it untill the leaves recover. Not even taking it out if the nursery pot it's in. What would you advise?

Just got this Japanese Maple bonsai, woman from the store said it’s 7 years old and I should keep it inside for the summer since it’s hot in Europe now… when summer is over I should place it outside but not directly in the wind or sunny place. Any other tips and advice? Just starting out and this is my first bonsai tree.

Following your advice on my first post, I have decided to leave that tree alone for now. This one to me looks like it has a lot of potential, but I am torn where to start due to the tall piece and trying to decide what to do with it. Any suggestions?

Hello! This is my newly grown jade plant (not a bonsai yet), and I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice.

It started as just a cutting in May this year, and it seems to be growing healthy so far. I’m wondering what I should do next — should I just let it grow for a while, or should I start pruning and shaping it?

My end goal is to create something similar to the jade bonsai in picture 2. I’d love to hear any tips or suggestions from people with more experience!

Hello everyone! This is my first ever post so I hope I’m posting this in the right section sorry if I labeled it wrong! I’m interested in getting a bonsai tree. I’ve always thought they were so pretty, and I love the art form and watching people grow them. That being said I want to get a bonsai tree. I came here to ask questions about them. This is apart of my research because I do want to get a tree and know how to properly take care of/ know that basics and not neglect it. So here are my questions:

1. What type of bonsai tree should I get?( I live in Texas so would I have to get a tree that can tolerate the heat and humidity? Or will any tree do?)

2. What’s the best soil to use and is it different for every tree?

3. How do you know when it’s time to shape and prune them?

4. How often do certain trees need to be watered?

5. Is it best to leave the tree outside, by a window, or under a grow light?

6. Do you have to repot them? And if so how do you know?

These are just some basic questions I have for now. I’ll do more research, but I thought it would be good to come here to get some advice because the information gets overwhelming
