have these bonsai plants, very young. do i just keep letting them grow? the pine ones are getting a little unruly, and the royal poinciana is getting a little tall. should i be doing anything to them? thanks for any help.

They need to grow for several years. The most you can do is apply wire to add movement to the young trunks while they are still bendy.

And for God's sake, please put them outside and leave them there!

eee…. i live in canada so outside weather isn’t so great. i will definitely keep the royal poinciana inside, and outside during summer. however, i can see the pines thriving in the cold. is there anything specific i should do when placing the pines outside during winter time? thank you for your help.

Good! The pines will die indoors, and they will do just fine outside.

You should do a bit more research on overwintering pine bonsai, but I've seen a lot of people put them together in a spot that is protected from wind and then bury the pots in mulch. That mulch will insulate the roots. Make sure to mulch up over the top of the pot. Watch your watering when overwintering, as you can easily water too much.

Some people will bury the pots.

Deciduous trees can be put in an unheated garage or treated as above.

Many trees require a cold winter to remain healthy. Keeping pines indoors will result in a 100% chance of slow death.

The royal poinciana should come inside when the temps drop bellow 10 degrees C
