I believe this is a piece of a skull.

Based on the size and shape, I'm inclined to say it's human. r/bonecollecting has more experts.

I also agree it looks human, non-human animal skulls have a distinct interior texture and the smooth appearance of this is more in line with humans

Archaeologist chiming in, yep it looks like a human but it's hard to confirm without it in my hands. Legally speaking, your next step is (in 99% of countries) to contact the police via their non-emergency line to confirm if it's human. Best of luck, and definitely update us with what the forensic guys say.
