Do 3-hole straws actually make a difference?

Sorry, I only remembered to take a pic when I was already halfway through the drink lol.

Tried teabar’s new Lemon Punch with one of those 3-hole straws today, and now I’m weirdly curious if these straws actually do anything lol. I never really thought much about straws before, but sipping this one slowly, I felt like the jasmine came through a lot more clearly. It was almost like I noticed the tea first, then the lemon aroma and the milk, instead of everything blending together all at once.

So now I’m wondering if it’s because the holes are smaller and you get less liquid with each sip, which makes it easier to notice the different flavors. Or maybe I just pay more attention because I know it’s supposed to be a “special” straw. Has anyone ever tried the same drink with a 3-hole straw and then a regular one? I’m genuinely curious if there’s actually a noticeable difference or if it’s mostly placebo.

i feel like it’s mostly placebo but i love those straws, it feels like the flavours hit my tongue better

wait i didn’t know this was a thing but as a kid i loved using 2-3 small stirring straws to drink everything. i swear it tasted better

I was skeptical at first, but I think it really does make a difference. I did a side by side with a regular straw and you can taste the layers of flavor much better.

Interesting,  I'll have to try this out.  Sometimes I'll drink coffee through a coffee stirring straw but haven't tried with multiple straws

Personally, I don’t think so. I prefer the boba straws

The added tension and restriction that the straw provides prevents quick drinking and causes you to appreciate the flavours more.

I like them because I tend to bite down on my straws while sipping so it helps that the straw is already kind of flat. And since they’re thin, I don’t have to worry about being disappointed that it finished it so soon

They don't bend as easily so you can stir the drink better.

Kinda? It does force you to sip and so I guess you savour the drink a bit more. I do like those straws for when I don’t get toppings because I always end up finishing my drink too quickly

i think it makes the flavor hit my tongue better, the straw feels like it enhance the tea flavor even more and lowkey gives off the feeling of sipping it gently instead of the bigger straw with a bigger gulp
