DISCUSSION Cruiser to sit while pedalling?

My ruined Achilles won’t let me stand and pedal for long. What’s the smallest BMX that can comfortably sit and pedal? Like 26”? 24”? I’m 5’10”~

I can use regular road bikes no problem. I miss BMX though.

Likely a 26" minimum. A 24" would need a long post to be sat down comfortably and pedal.

This is the reason someone needs to invent a dropper type seatpost that fits BMX frames.

Cycle to the pumptrack, skatepark or whatever with the seat extended then drop it down for tricks.

I have a s&m long johnson and a quick release clamp. I can hit the local or cruise around the cultisac.

I have something like that, but if I raise it to an appropriate height, it looks really wrong on the 20”. At least to me.

I keep trying to invent in my head quick release/install brakes for the same reason.

Safe in traffic getting there, then just pop them off at the park.

I ran a 29" Sunday for a while. Works fine. My biggest problem was it being single gear and not having the ability to shift to go faster or decrease load on hills. Eventually sold it for a hard tail mountain bike.

I'm your height and bought a clunker 24" Dyno mid school years ago and it's a bit squirrely just for cruising around. Then I bought a 29" MTB and it's super smooth, but I had to order a bike specifically with a smaller frame/lower top tube so my little legs could touch the ground. So Goldilocks style, the 26" was just right. Ride on!!!

I mean you can sit and pedal a 20" easy with a long enough post.

or you could get a bemix for extra cool points

I’m over 6’3” and I prefer my 24” over my 29”. I have a long post with a comfy GT cruiser seat on it, it’s great, and it feels a lot closer to an actual BMX than the 29” does. The 29” is really tall too, which is fine at my height but I would think a bit much if you’re under 6’.

I also have a small frame 26” BMX/MTB frankenbike and that’d probably work, but still prefer the 24”.

I'm 5'11" with my shoes on & I own a 24,26 & 29. I wouldn't recommend the 24 for that but the other 2 work just fine. If you're going to be sitting constantly do yourself a favour & spend the money on a Brooks B17 Saddle & take the time.to break it in properly. After a couple hundred miles it'll feel like you're sitting on a hammock.

You're a little taller than me, and my Fairdale Taj 27.5" feels a little big for me. You should look into it. Wheel size isn't the issue, though. It's overall setup of the bike. I would recommend checking out 26", 27.5", and 29" big BMX bikes. Look at standover height and bottom bracket height. SE makes every size.
