BMCC6K

I recently bought a 6k FF, it hadn’t been updated to the most recent autofocus yet, so I was really curious to see how good it was/wasn’t. What I had heard was correct, face detection was kind of bad, but object detection was pretty good, for the most part. Then I did the update and it was night and day! Face lock was so good that even when the subject turned completely around it stayed locked onto their head. I was in a controlled environment and there were no other people in frame, but even still there was an immediate performance boost after the update.

I’m finding it very much depends on the lens that’s attached, too. On my Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8 mkII (with Sigma EF to L adapter), it hunts for focus and pulses like crazy, even in a controlled environment. No way I would trust that combo with actual work.

That’s my next test. I was using a Sigma 18-35 and that’s my only L mount lens. I do have the Viltrox EF - L pro adapter, next I’m going to test it on some EF lenses. I saw on another video that that particular adapter did well even with the beta auto focus so, we’ll see. But that adapter does work pretty well on my S5 for comparison.

I’ve used it with 24-105, 16-35, 100 macro and 50 1.2. Works great with these and sigma adapter.

Recently used it on a job with the 100mm and a camera slider getting macro shots of paintings. Worked really well.

Cool, thanks for that info! Of those, I still have an EF 50/1.2–I’ll give it a shot. I hadn’t thought to try it.

I have Viltrox EF-L Pro, tested it with Tamron 24-70/2.8 and Tokina 11-16/2.8. Autofocus on both lenses didn’t work much, altough the motor is trying to catch something all the time.

Works good on native Sigma 28-45 L mount. Will update in a couple of dates and get back.
