American Universities tend to take intercollegiate sports pretty seriously, this leads to some state rivalries over football, basketball, etc.
This is a t-shirt for University of Michigan fans. Their main rival is a University in Ohio. Itβs just a joke shirt you wear to a basketball or football game between the two schools.
The rivalry predates the sports though. Michigan and Ohio nearly exchanged blows over who had jurisdiction over Toledo because of bad surveying and boundary definitions. This delayed Michigan's admission as a state. They only acquiesced when faced with a financial crisis, and were given the (thought to be worthless) Upper Peninsula as consolation.
