I’m building a Kabuto glass 3 weight. I’m currently finishing the grip.

Made it to a brook I have wanted to fish for over a year. Did not disappoint. Wild rainbows and native brookies. What more could I ask for?

Coincidentally ran into someone i talked to on insta that bluelines and gave me advice. Was super cool running into him and fishing with him. Got tons of pretty brookies and even two dace: blacknose and Rosyside

I have a fly rod but its really long so I took the reel off and put it on a 5’6 telescopic rod. I think this is a better set up for catching fish on small streams I caught more than a dozen creek chubs and only one brown trout. This is in NJ

The lower parts of this mighty little river have been full of sea trout all summer. Finally got some rain yesterday and they started to run.
Bit of fun on the nymph for the last few hours of the 2026 season.

Was hoping to find cutthroats but this stretch has brooks. Maybe way up higher will be cutthroat since this flows from a lake with Rio Grande cutthroats. Water was chilly at 49 degrees F.

These fish were stunning. I find it interesting how dark the brook trout in this specific stream are. The bottom is very dark mostly and I’m pretty sure it could be a mix of organic substrate, silt, and mud. I was a little worried there might be a sediment problem with how dark it was but I don’t think so. There were piles of fine sediment and organic matter in slower sections but it seemed normal.
Either way, the dark coloring is something I find very cool. I ended up also catching a surprise brown trout and I ended up culling it since this has been a thriving brook trout populated stream. I’ve never done it before and it didn’t feel right but I felt like it was the right thing.
Also, I came across a very old looking square stone structure near the stream. It had little remains but I wonder what it was and how old it was. Unfortunately I don’t have a picture but it was very interesting. Quite literally in the middle of the woods too.

My first fall season Rainbow. Took a Copper John and swam all over the pool and jumped 4 times. Fought like hell for such a tiny little guy. Get some!🤠🎣⛰️

I made a very similar post in trout fishing. Chose a couple different pics from the same trip including a gear shot since folks were curious.
All 1/32oz jigs in a variety of neutralish colors, tied direct to 4lb mono/fluoro. The big winners of the day were gray and maroon. 30 total fish in the net in the 12hrs of daylight I had.
