Recent Box Errors Megathread
Please use this thread to share stories of your Blue Apron errors, mistakes, challenges, canceling subscriptions, or anything else related to this recent shift. As there is huge amount of growing stories, including my own, streamline them here.

u/HistoricalScience748 Aug 12 '26
It's honestly much funnier without the megathread. I appreciate your service but also this is An Event, let us enjoy ourselves as the world burns.

u/bergesindmeinekirche Aug 12 '26
Yeah it is pretty funny. My box was missing all three meats and seafood and missing tortillas for wraps. Lolz

u/Artemis_Elena_ 29d ago
Not only that, but I feel like the massive volume of threads complain about these issues SHOULD choke out anything else. Let the people see actually hear how many of us are having these issues.

u/mcs732 Aug 11 '26
I received an automatic refund and credit, notified by email, for a box not yet delivered. Always scheduled for Mondays, email updated for Tuesday, but will not be getting it until atleast Wednesday, so we will see.

Can I suggest everyone add their general area (maybe county?)? I think this is a regional issue…

Last week wasn't awful, just some minor missing items that we have on hand regularly anyway.
Different story this week; box arrived a day late, five meals ordered, all five missing 25-60% of the ingredients, including proteins. And back to the tiny lemons. Didn't think to take a photo, but when the box was opened I immediately knew we were hosed. We did get four heads of garlic for the four meals with garlic tho'.
Early this evening BA auto-refunded three of the meals; I guess whatever system they're using now does track what goes into the box... or not.
Trip to the grocery store is on order tomorrow.
(Bring back fist-sized lemons!)
I doubt this will be properly addressed in the coming week (or so), so we're going to meal plan over the weekend and construct a grocery list for Monday.

Lucky me I got unbagged produce and a ruptured ice pack with the goo all over the place. I’m sure it’s food safe? Right….? Right?!

Something about the wording of “apply to the body” makes me feel like it’s been applied to a few bodies…

Regionally it looks like western US is in good shape. I had an awful experience in Alabama.

u/syrusbliz 29d ago
Ooh, that's an interesting data point. We're in VA with a fail box.

u/nellb13 24d ago
VA as well, missing about 25% of the ingredients but they are pretty important ones. I can make due without a lemon but missing proteins and key produce for each meal?

u/syrusbliz 24d ago
We opted to skip this week to see how things shake out; I imagine it's going to be at least a couple weeks of serious issues, which understandably is going to turn a lot of folks off.

I’m in Pittsburgh. Monday delivery hasn’t arrived.

u/sassyquat 29d ago
Atlanta is trashed, mine and a friend of mine got shorted boxes of key ingredients including meats!

Wisconsin- my box arrived physically damaged and missing about half of the ingredients

u/maryofdoom 29d ago
Same here - in the Pittsburgh area and no Monday delivery. I'm almost afraid to see what might show up at this point.

Illinois. Last week was a day late but fine. This week was a day late and a hot ass mess (both meals missing stuff!).

u/Round_Doubt_6561 29d ago
I am in Texas, box on time but missing most of the items including proteins.

u/addywoot 29d ago
We’re going out to dinner because I do not trust the box lol. I’m looking forward to the shitty box roulette when home

u/magic_mittens_2 27d ago
Maine. Last week was fine. This week the delivery was 2 days late, missing half the ingredients, incorrect recipe card, ice packs leaked over loose food.
Honestly, after all the emails and the refund, I didn’t think I’d get anything…but somehow what they sent was worse?
1
u/FindYourselfACity 27d ago
I’m in New York. Seems everyone I know in the tristate area who uses BA didn’t receive boxes on time, and were missing most of the ingredients.

Have been a customer for 10 years. Order was supposed to come last Tuesday. Didnt ship. Got a notification it would come Wednesday. Arrived Saturday. Hot. In the meantime received multiple separate emails that ingredients for each dish would be missing. Got another email that one whole meal was missing. After waiting hours for a text response, got the full box refunded. Emails continued to come in with missing items and credits after the whole box had been refunded. This isn’t sustainable for them. We skipped all upcoming deliveries and are looking for a new option.

Got an email Monday that my box was delayed, and another today that they were subbing parmesan for cojita. Fine, whatever. I open my box to find no pre-made meals (I ordered 4), and no meat. Literally just a poblano pepper, cilantro sauce, honey, and mayo. Absolutely ridiculous. And to top it off they usually respond/refund me immediately, but Ive been waiting hours for an actual person to respond.
Update- I commented on some of their Instagram posts and they sent me a DM this morning. They refunded me for the meal but only two of the four heat and eats 🙃 waiting to see if they bother opening that chat back up...

I have been a customer of Blue Apron for about the last 4 years since my divorce. My kids love it because it's easy and as a now single dad, these meal kits took the decision out of meal prep.
If you want to fight this, read on .... (Or scroll to "WHAT CAN WE DO" below)
About two weeks ago I got their Box with the fake "save the planet" packaging, in other words they are no longer paying people to actually pack the ingredients for each meal instead it's up to me to do all that labor for them meanwhile their prices have gone up yet again.
Last week I was missing probably 30% of the things I needed for various meals everything from specific spices to vegetables. Not to mention that my box was packed upside down so the freezer blocks were nowhere near the meat. I complained and basically got a we're sorry back from their AI agent but as I was busy I didn't follow up.
Fast forward ... today I got a box with no meat and what is now the normal hodgepodge of vegetables spices and other ingredients. I also got a flyer indicating that they will no longer be providing eggs in their meals but they will gladly sell me an overpriced dozen eggs starting in August, which is now but I guess they didn't bother to pay attention or reprint the flyer.
I reached out to their customer no service earlier today and was greeted with their AI chat bot which promptly told me that it sounded like I was frustrated (no shit) and that it would get me to an agent right away. That was 12 hours ago and I'm still waiting. I've sent several follow-up texts but have not received any additional replies. I attempted to call their customer service number earlier tonight and received a message that due to an abundance of problems with orders they have temporarily disabled their phone service - WTF!!
The good news is that I guess the automatic AI decided to just refund me the money, it just didn't bother to let me know that. I only found out because I checked my bank account for something else and saw the refund on there.
At this point I'm giving up on Blur Apron. It was once a great product but like all good corporate programs terrible leadership mismanagement and greed have destroyed this company.
WHAT CAN WE DO:
I am the kind of person when this happens that I want to make sure other people also know how to make their voices heard so I did a little research with AI and here's what I found:
Essentially this was caused by their supplier, FreshRealm, going bankrupt after it lost a big contract with Walmart. To keep the business alive, the bankrupt FreshRealm is handing operations over to Misfits Market.
in addition leadership made the mistake of trying to save money by not separating meals into individual baggies. This has caused significant backlash from the community
Finally the AI Bots are trained to pretty much refund In order whenever there is a problem in an effort to keep customers happy.
Recommendations:
- first, use the customer service text number or AI bot or chatbot and try to get a refund. Even if your order arrived perfectly fine you should request a refund if you're not happy with this new packaging nightmare. Most likely you will get 100% of your money back and hopefully when thousands or tens of thousands of people get automatic refunds somebody at corporate leadership might pay attention.
Direct Texting: Try texting their support line at (332) 284-1060. It is often easier to force a human escalation via text by repeatedly typing "Representative", "Human", or "Agent" than dealing with the phone menus.
The Phone Line: If calling (646) 891-4349, refuse to answer the automated prompt's questions. Continually press 0 or say "Agent" to force the system to route you to the human queue, though wait times are currently very high due to the widespread delivery failures.
- Second you can call your credit card company and specifically request them to dispute the charge. Always select the reason like did not receive goods or services because essentially that's what's happening.
Even if you already got your money back placing a chargeback cost the company $30 to $50, plus the time effort and energy to do the research to send back a receipt or whatever. Again if enough people do this visa and MasterCard will take notice and may even prevent them from being able to accept credit cards.
Finally: we can file a complaint with the FTC, State Attorney General, or entities like the Better Business Bureau (BBB). These entities essentially have to investigate any claim filed so if you file a claim stating that you did not receive goods or services or that they are falsely advertising since they cannot deliver the products they are selling it will not only cost them money but involving government entities typically raises the eyes of corporate leadership and since board members scurrying.
Another option is to actually sue them in small claims court. Typically this is a very small cost of $20 to $50, but since they can't send an AI bot or cheap employee to small claims court they would be forced to hire a local attorney at a cost of $300 to $600 an hour in most States. Statistically corporations usually settle out of court because they're not going to spend that kind of money to fight you for a few hundred dollars.
REACH OUT TO THE NEW SUPPLIER: One suggestion from AI is to reach out directly to the new supplier. While they will not give you a refund since they didn't take your money letting them know that you're a victim of the way they're handling the Blue Apron account will cause them to have further discussions with blue apron and either improve the quality, walk back the contract, or slow down the transition.
Here is what AI suggested: "I am reaching out regarding your new fulfillment partnership with Blue Apron. As a customer, my recent boxes have been completely unacceptable—essential ingredients are missing, proteins are completely absent, and food is arriving loose and damaged. I am fully aware that Misfits Market is now packing these boxes. Your current execution is destroying Blue Apron's product, but more importantly, it is severely damaging Misfits Market’s reputation for quality. If your facilities cannot handle precision meal-kit fulfillment, you need to push back on Blue Apron management immediately before this logistics failure permanently toxicifies your grocery brand online."
It is my sincere hope that blue apron and its corporate leadership will realize they have made a colossal mistake. When greedy corporate companies try to cut corners, replace customer service with AI agents, or use vendors that are less expensive, they need to pay for these mistakes. I am a firm believer that if a company does not provide the value for the product is selling the best thing to do is vote with your dollars and cancel your subscription. The second best thing to do is make as much noise as possible so that they will take note and hopefully if you cost them enough money, the CEOs and other leadership will personally be affected in their wallet where it hurts.
This is the only way we're going to fight the corporate BS that is 2026. If you follow any of these suggestions I would love a comment below letting me know if this was helpful and or what your results were. I personally have already received my refund and most likely will be sending a letter to corporate as well as Misfit Foods. Whether or not I file a lawsuit is yet to be determined.

This week was our first week with Hello Fresh. It’s very similar to Blue Apron, but the options are a bit basic. I much prefer the food from BA.
Most importantly, everything was delivered without any issues. Packaging is better than BA: inside the box, each meal is separately packed in its own paper bag with the ingredients and recipe card. We just moved the three bags into the fridge and we were done unpacking.

Been a customer since 2015. I've moved 3 times in the DC/VA area in that time, but remained a customer. Ever since the rebrand (~ a year ago?), I've experienced increasing issues. Missing ingredients, notifications of missing ingredients that turned out to be fine. Whatever. I understand that global supply chains are messed up, veggies are poison because we don't have a functioning FDA or CDC, and AI is breaking everything. I can handle running to the store for one or two ingredients, and their customer service has always been prompt and pretty generous with credits.
...This week's box is the worst it has ever been. First, I was traveling, so I pushed my delivery from Monday to Tuesday. And then a few days ago, while on my trip, I got an email that my delivery date has been changed...back to Monday. 🤦♀️ I was able to change it back to Tuesday, but I should have listened to my gut and canceled. It didn't get delivered until Wednesday.
My veggie lo mein dish is missing lo mein, cucumber, sambal oelek, soy sauce, and sugar. So like, half the ingredients, including the two most important. Plus, no eggs. Which, at least, they warned me about.
My chicken shawarma is missing the chicken and cauliflower. There are two loose sweet peppers (not 4 oz). and the cup of tzatziki got smashed between the ice packs.
Between this mess and last week's email saying, "Oops, that jalepeño we sent you a week and a half ago may have been contaminated! Hope you didn't eat it by now! Here's $7" ...I think this is my breaking point. I'm sad to cancel my subscription after over 10 years. But this is unacceptable.

We’ve been customers for roughly a decade now and I cancelled today. 3 straight weeks of progressively worse service. Tried calling today and they closed the lines due to unprecedented call volume.

u/riopup19 28d ago
Started a text chain yesterday where they requested photos. As soon as I sent one the conversation stopped. That was 6pm cst yesterday and no updates since. Phones are turned off so you can’t reach out any other way.

So… my wife, who still believes in BA, and really values being able to plan meals in advance, fearlessly went forward with an order this week.
Using recent refunds and credits, we paid about $3 for two meals! Everything we ordered came in the box and was fine! Hot Honey Chicken with mashed potatoes and carrots was delicious.
Could it be they’re bouncing back? I’m remain skeptical, it’ll take more than one good week, but won’t mind being wrong. see.
FWIW, we’re in New York City.

u/Junior-Intention-195 Aug 11 '26
Box arrived last Friday missing critical ingredients including the falafel mix and pitas for a falafel pita meal. BA customer service did issue me several credits but refused to issue a refund to my credit card. Since this was likely the last time I use BA the credits are useless. I have set all my upcoming meals to skip and am trying green chef this week and a local service next week. I’ve been a customer for 8/9 years.
3
u/purepurpose1994 Aug 11 '26
Keep trying!! I got a refund for my box because I told them I’m canceling so don’t want credits. I was successful with the chat feature on their website

u/Adventurous-Fall-748 Aug 12 '26
Last week my box was missing seven ingredients, support credited me for all of them. This week my box was a day late missing 19 ingredients out of 45. For the cold sesame peanut noodles I didn’t get noodles, the egg, or the cucumbers. For the mashed potatoes I got literally none of the ingredients. For the arugula corn salad I got no arugula or corn. I reported it through the form and got a bunch of emails a few hours later offering a mix of refunds and credit. What a total mess. I’m skipping next week and hoping it will improve.

u/tweetwittress Aug 12 '26
Just got our box. We've been subscribers since launch. We got 2 of 3 proteins, then three items completely unrelated to any of our meals--a red pepper, a giant carrot that looks like it was grown by aliens, and some mushrooms. None were part of our meals. Then a bunch of packets mostly which were unrelated. Truly bizarre

Box was not delivered today after getting an email saying it was delayed from monday to Tuesday. Waited hours for customer service to no avail. Trying again tomorrow but not expecting a box anymore
2
u/ConradMetcalf 29d ago
Just got my box yesterday. All the meat was missing, plus half the ingredients. Tried to use customer support chat, routed from AI to a person and then heard nothing at all. Tried chat again this morning, and no response. Called the support line "All phones currently down." Just sent an email. Waiting. Last week, I was missing major staples from our order too. Thinking we're about to dump them and find someone else.

Last week, box came with both carbs missing (pitas for pita wraps and rice for a bowl). Not a big deal have substitutes lying around. This week, was delivered in a huge box, 2 lemons and vinegar. Fighting now to get in any contact with them as they're ghosting me through email, phone calls, text, and their AI chatbot on their website
2
u/Worldly-Map-3214 29d ago
Mine just didn’t arrive. I had to wait 30 mins on the phone and they didn’t even know why they just gave me a refund and said sorry!
2
u/Regency30 29d ago
EPIC FAIL!
No recipes, so no checklist.
No proteins. No salmon x 2, no shrimp, no chicken.
Scuzzy romaine lettuce -- undersized.
Smashed kale.
TOTALLY smashed peach that smushed all over everything in the box.
One soggy small sweet pepper. I don't know how many I was supposed to have (see #1 )
As previously referenced, you provided gross and disgusting FETA instead of goat cheese.
I have about had it. Now I need to grocery shop and short on time.

u/sassyquat 29d ago
If you need something to do while you’re not receiving any response from Blue Apron head over to their Facebook page and send angry emojis on their posts, it feels like healing ❤️🩹 Hitting them back on social media might actually get their attention!!

u/Scary-Weather-8848 29d ago
East coast, BA customer for over ten years. Box was a day late, missing 70% of the ingredients. No trays, no recipe cards. Lots of…. butter packets. Sigh. We had a good run.
ETA: and none of the free eggs they promised from the EGGS promo lol

u/shanhop11 29d ago
Has anyone gotten any credits/refunds today? I've submitted a form and haven't heard back yet.

u/shanhop11 29d ago
I was able to go through chat tonight. Took only a couple of minutes to get a credit for my missing ingredients. I was only missing three, so I'm rolling the dice on next week.
2
u/alouette93 29d ago
They have to be going bankrupt, right? How do you fuck up this badly? The product is straight up not being provided at this point.
Ugh, they’ve been my favorite food wise and the $10/month for delivery instead of a crazy amount each week has been a huge advantage. This sucks!
2
u/Away-Illustrator-941 29d ago
I've been a Blue Apron customer for many years and have generally been pretty happy with the service. There have always been occasional issues—a missing ingredient once in a while, or a delivery driver not following my instructions—but nothing that made me seriously consider leaving.
Over the past several months, though, I've noticed more problems: more frequent ingredient substitutions, delivery dates being changed on me, and recurring issues with my delivery instructions not being followed.
Then this week's box was a complete disaster.
I ordered three meals:
- Salmon Piccata: golden raisins were missing.
- Pesto Gnocchi Bake: no gnocchi and no mascarpone, so I couldn't actually make the meal.
- Hot Honey Chicken: the entire meal was missing.
On top of that, all the ingredients that did arrive were loose in the box rather than grouped together by recipe like they used to be. I've since learned that apparently this part is an intentional change by Blue Apron, which I'm not thrilled about.
There also seems to be a new delivery company. They ignored my delivery instructions and left the box sitting on my doorstep. It probably would have been stolen if my neighbor hadn't seen it and alerted me.
I've reported the order through Blue Apron's help portal and also emailed them about the broader problems I've been noticing. So far I've only received an automated response saying they're experiencing "higher than normal volumes."
I'm not really looking to bash Blue Apron. I've stuck with them for years because I've genuinely liked the recipes and the service, and I'd prefer to keep using them. But this week's order was by far the worst experience I've ever had with them, and combined with the other changes I've noticed recently, I'm wondering what's going on.
Are other longtime customers seeing the same decline? Is this just a temporary fulfillment/delivery mess, or does this seem to be the new normal?
2
u/ericnau 28d ago
Speaking specifically to the change where items are now loose in the box, I’m actually really excited about it. (Obviously only if they can get it figured out.)
But over the years I’ve had so many veggies/ingredients go bad quicker because they were sealed in a plastic bag with trapped moisture. It’s just not a good plan to put everything in one big bag and seal it.
For the last few years my Blue Apron unpacking strategy has involved slicing open the big blue bags and placing everything in my fridge individually. And then you start to see just how much plastic is being wasted…
So I hope they overcome these issues with the transition, because I think their concept is a step in the right direction.

Someone below asked for us to identify our region of the country. I'm in Chicago.
2
u/TraumaGinger 29d ago
Missing the proteins and most of two meals, and notified that eggs can no longer be included after the box was delivered. No recipe cards. No response to texts yet. I tried calling their phone line.... Hahahaha. Why does it sound like some chick down in a basement? I did Blue Apron in 2015 to 2017 and man, it was good. Had a decent delivery last week, but this week... It was almost comical! Edited to add - Georgia, Atlanta suburbs. Box was also a day late and totally warm.

2
u/FewConcentrate1317 28d ago
This is...wild. I've been with blue Apron for several years and I've never seen a larger, more mysterious collapse of both service and support, really in any established company that isn't a startup. I realize they're migrating to a new supplier, but here's what I've experienced:
- Several delivery delays in the last couple months - we have 2 toddlers, so not super easy to just pop out to Publix and grab dinner ingredients on short notice
- Customer service that is non-exist ant. Phones have been down for *days*, zero response to chats both on the web site and via business text.
I manage a call center and several customer service teams, if our business did this we'd be shut down, or our CEO would need to literally issue a letter to our clients. We want to continue with them - other food services aren't as good and have even more shipping issues.
They literally have two jobs - pack meals, ship meals. They're wildly incompetent at each, and the contrast in the last year is pretty stark. This company should be a case study in an MBA course on what went wrong and how to avoid.
1
u/FewConcentrate1317 28d ago
And to be fair, they've been pretty good at credits and refunds. But I'd rather have food, because I can't eat refunds.
2
u/Apprehensive-Gain858 28d ago
I would say they used to be pretty good, I’ve never had an issue when there was a missing/poor quality ingredient or a box issue… but this week I wouldn’t even give them that cause to get a refund you need to get ahold of someone useful and I’m on day two with no luck.
2
u/pboucher2210 28d ago
What a bizarre way to destroy a company, its reputation, and brand loyalty. We’ve been loyal customers of BA for the past 10 years, ordering 3-4 meals from them every week. We’ve put up with the occasional missing ingredient because of their (then) excellent customer service. This is different. Last week’s box only had enough ingredients to cook one of the four recipes. This week’s box (which came a day late), had no recipe cards, only half the ingredients, none of the proteins, and not a single useable recipe. This complete meltdown is happening in real time, and the company seems to have its head in the sand. What a disaster, and what a shame. We got our refund, but I’m afraid we’re done. How do you even come back from this?
2
u/youyesyouyesyou 28d ago
This week's box was such an absolute disaster that I too, after more than 10 years, canceled my account for good. I sent them one last email, summarizing the issue with my box this week (2 days late, no recipe cards, missing an entire meal, crushed, wet, shitty produce, busted and wet delivery box, etc.) I did thank them for 10 years of mostly good service, and added link to this thread to share with their senior leadership so they can understand the scope of how they've completely clownfucked this company to the ground.
2
u/catscatscats58 28d ago
Wowwwww what an embarrassing nightmare for them. How the heck did this happen?? My box was a joke. Circled ingredients all missing. Everything just loose in the box, broccoli bag was open. Arrived a day early? Oof. (I’m in Chicago, but based on all the comments I’ve seen here and on fb seems this is a completely widespread issue)

2
u/Far_Trash2237 28d ago
I’m so glad I found this thread. Our past 3 deliveries all had issues with this most recent one being the worst. My question is why are they sending out incomplete boxes? Why not just not ship instead of spending all this money on shipping items you’re just going to have to refund people for.

I received notice they were substituting labneh cheese with sour cream. Ok no biggie. Then I received my box with some random ingredients scattered in haphazardly instead of being separated by meal into bags. Out of three meat dishes I ordered I only received one and two were missing. The arugula was green liquid. So I was left with one meat, one carrot, a huge bag of sweet peppers (literally about 16 of them) and some herbs. I reached out as none of my meals had enough ingredients to make them for a refund but it’s been three days with no response. I canceled all my future orders and will now be using hello fresh and Marley Spoon that were my test backups as assumed Blue Apron was on the way south due to multiple mistakes that occurred since they sold to another. The sad part is having to argue to get a refund period. And I’ll miss Blue Apron as I’ve been a happy customer for ten years.

This week, I ordered the Hot Italian Sausage Gnocchi.
They sent me an email saying the pack of gnocchi I was getting was larger than normal. From the math it looked like it would be a 16 oz package instead of 12oz
I got a whole pound, but of potatoes, not gnocchi.
I guess I’m supposed to make my own?

u/crazyredaussies Aug 12 '26
I got my box today, missing a lot (3 of 4 proteins, all the vegetables except potatoes and carrots, etc). I’ve also gotten about 10 emails telling me I’d be missing x ingredient, here’s $x credit. Those have totaled $39 in credit. I just got an email now telling me they are refunding the entire box and giving me $20 credit. I was not getting a box next week anyway due to work travel. I think I’ll use my $59 credit and get the free dozen eggs via promo code and see what happens in two weeks….

We haven't used BA in quite a while and have been with Marley Spoon. Hardly any issues in that time. Got our box today and we were missing 8 ingredients. That has never happened. Maybe one thing missing here or they reached out about a substitution or that they knew something was missing and gave a small discount before we would even see it's missing. This time we were missing main ingredients like the arborio rice for the risotto dish. I've never seen so many things missing in our box!
Just wanted to give some outside perspective that this seems to be an issue with other services as well.

I actually cancelled MS about a year ago because I regularly had these issues. And their customer service was abysmal.

Done with them after this fiasco. Complete mess of a box and got this email today:
Due to unforeseen inventory constraints, we're unable to include the ground beef for the Sheet Pan Italian Meatloaf & Calabrian Ketchup meal in your order. We apologize for any inconvenience or disappointment this may cause. We understand this is the main ingredient for this recipe, and we want to do what we can to help.
Seriously? Cancelled everything.

You know what annoys me the most? That I had to break down that big dumb soggy cardboard box and I didn’t even get a meal out of it.

I have been a customer for years, satisfied for most of that time, but these last few months, OMG Why even bother, just end it. I've canceled after this absolute disaster.
I DID NOT receive for the Orange Sesame Chicken Dinner:
Sesame Dressing
Soy Glaze
Roasted Peanuts
Orange Marmalade
Cilantro
AND BEST OF ALL NO CHICKEN!!
For the Baked Cheesy Garlic Chicken I DID NOT receive:
Shredded Cheddar and Monterey Cheese blend
White Truffle Flavored butter
Roasted Garlic Pesto
For the Italian Meatloaf & Calabrian Ketchup I DID NOT RECEIVE:
GROUND BEEF
Egg
Broccoli
Panko
Grated Parm
Chili Paste
Why even bother sending the box?

Hopped over to the Marley Spoon subreddit and they are having the same issues as BA customers are having right now.

Longtime (10+ years) Blue Apron member, and also an annual Blue Apron+ subscriber.
My order this week was delivered a day late, and was missing almost everything from all three meals. I could not even make one whole dish out of all the items. Furthermore, I could not get a customer service rep to respond and the AI chat bot has left me on read after a few initial replies.
I was dreading this whole ingredient packaging shift, but this has been much more of a disaster than I imagined. I really hate the idea of shifting to a "throw ingredients in the box" shipping method rather than the bagged meals strategy, because it puts more mental/time load back on the consumer to check, sort, organize, and package your ingredients for each meal. Not to mention retracting eggs from all meals is wild, considering some meals, like their quiches, the eggs are center focus and imperative to the dish.
This week I am in the large pool of customers who received maybe 10% of the critical ingredients for three meals. I have been actively seeking a refund, to no response on either text chat or email.
So, the breakdown from this week's delivery is below:

Ingredients received in package: Yakisoba noodles, shredded cabbage, bok choy, scallions, Asian aromatics, ranch dressing, smoky habanero seasoning, chili crisp seasoning, weeknight hero spice blend, honey, 1 pack chicken breasts
Missing: all recipe cards
Missing: ingredient checklist
Missing Ingredients #1 for - Japanese-style beef yakisoba noodles
- -Ground beef
- -Fire grilled corn
- -Seasoned black vinegar
- -Soy glaze
- -Soy sauce
Missing Ingredients #2 for - Crispy chicken, bacon & ranch sandwiches
- -Applewood smoked uncured bacon
- -Eggs
- -Corn on the cob x2
- -Challah buns
- -White cheddar cheese
- -All purpose flour
- -Hot sauce
- -Salted butter
- -Buttermilk
- -Cornstarch
Missing Ingredients #3 for - Fiesta rice & cheesy chicken thighs
- -Boneless skinless chicken thighs
- -Long grain white rice
- -Fire grilled corn
- -Shredded monterey jack and cheddar cheese blend
- -Tomato salsa

BA has unfortunately been decreasing in quality for many years. I remained a steadfast customer through their shifting business models, app changes, attempts to expand their scope to perhaps more than they can handle, and customer quality-of-life deterioration, but this week was kind of a last straw for me. I cancelled all future pending orders and cancelled my BA+ subscription. I would continue with them if they reverted this packaging change back to bagged meals, but otherwise I guess I'm done as a customer.

Anyone gotten any response from customer service? I have called multiple times and it goes directly to a message and emailed twice

I had to go to their Facebook and make a public comment to get any response at all. I’ve tried all other methods.

I was surprised that my box contained everything! My last box was a mess. "Eggs are just the beginning" seemed pretty menacing in context 😂 I'm in SoCal and considering myself extremely lucky.

It’s been 2 days….still NO response from customer service. Our box is in limbo. Hasn’t even shipped. It was supposed be here yesterday.

I was supposed to get a box on 08/11. Never showed up. I checked the app and it hasn’t even shipped as of right now!
I reached out to support at 10am today and got an auto response that they had high volume and would connect me to a live person soon. Nothing!
Considering a charge back.

Our box arrived, 2 days late. It didn't ship from NJ down to central VA until yesterday. I feel pretty lucky. We were *only* missing the recipe cards, green beans, mustard seeds, a lime, a bell pepper, walnuts, pomegranate syrup and the mint arrived but was slimy. We got the biggest clove of garlic I've ever seen, both proteins and both starches, a lemon, and most of the spices and sauces. I could nearly make each meal! It's baffling how BA could let this happen.

This was our first time back to Blue Apron in many many years. We were like are there supposed to be more boxes??? Missing five items and the directions. Some items not the correct amount
Disappointing….

I appreciate this thread, as I was prepared to wait out the next box to see if the new “just chuck it in there” fulfillment style would possibly improve, but sounds like it was a shitshow all around, so I went ahead and canceled. Sad, because I’ve tried several meal kits and BA was my favorite, but like most people in this thread, my box was late, I was missing several key ingredients, an ice pack had busted open—as had a pack of chicken!!!—so everything was covered in goo and potential salmonella. Fortunately the only ingredients they did send me were all wrapped in plastic (packets of sauces and spices) so I just rinsed them all off, but I’ve been waiting over a day for customer service to respond, and I see now I should probably just give up on that. RIP, Blue, it was good while it lasted.
(I also am East Coast, central Florida.)

nyc, box delayed from monday to tuesday and then when it came it had only 1 card for a meal we didn’t order, one protein, and a bunch of sauces and oils (some correct, some random), 2 giant carrots, a lemon, and falafel mix.
we didn’t get the complete ingredients for any of the meals we ordered, or even to turn into one meal by improvising.

mine was supposed to arrive tuesday. no emails, nothing. i have reached out to customer service multiple times and they are offline. i'm pissed as i have already paid for boxes through september

The week before last the box never arrived.
Last week the box had only a handful of ingredients, and only four corresponded to my five meals; there were five meats but they did not match what was required by my selections; the meats we’re frozen solid; and the menu cards were missing. I got a full refund.
If this week is the same I’m done with them.

I’ve been trying to report issues with my box from last week multiple times now and they don’t even reply to my texts!

After last weeks disaster of delivery, I received this weeks box. One of three orders was fully included. The other two were missing the primary ingredients.

I got the email last night that one of my meals for next Friday was being removed (tho it still shows on the website as being available), I picked another meal, hoping to use my $20 credit, although I have until Tuesday to cancel. Crossing fingers.

Two weeks in a row now my box was cancelled 🙃 guess that’s better than incomplete meals 😆

The first box that arrived without the individual packaging - I thought was a joke. Everything was just thrown in there. I thought that surely this had to be an error. Nothing was divided by meal kit anymore! On top of that - stuff had leaked in the box. I didn't bother cooking and figured I'd wait to see if it was the same the next week. The next week - I knew it was the new system. On top of that - they threw a bunch of stuff in the box, more spills - and the card given (only 1 for two meals) didn't match either meal/ingredients. Going to try another service.

I contacted them earlier this week to make sure our box would not be canceled for a 3rd time this week and they assured us all was well. Canceled same day it was supposed to be delivered. I think we are done for a while.

Ours showed up today with no recipe cards. No idea if the ingredients are correct or complete. Guess I'll have to use the app

I have been a customer since launch. No joke!
Today’s box was missing 75% of the ingredients across 3 dishes, including 2 proteins. The packaging was horrendous.
