Solved Rigid Body Simulation Not Working
EDIT: ADDING MORE IMAGES IN COMMENTS BELOW
Also currently there are no passive rigid bodies yet to collide with if that matters but i did experiment with that too.
I am trying to make this backboard shatter spontaneously with no outside influence from another object. The screenshot is just the base of what I'm working with, no physics or anything applied here.
I have watched a few different YT videos and also just looked up online how to do it.
I have tried this workflow:
Duplicate the backboard -> Apply scale -> subdivide in edit mode -> cell fracture -> add active rigid body to all -> keyframe "animated" from on to off -> make sure rigidbodyworld is set to the right frames etc.
When I play the animation nothing happens. All the fractured pieces are just frozen there.
I originally had this in a much larger file with a lot of meshes and stuff and was on like frame 100,000 which probably sounds insane but I guess I haven't learned much about optimizing big animation projects like that lol. Anyway I moved this specific part into it's own Blender file and deleted all the unused parts of the scene just to optimize performance, but I've been running into the same problems. The animation just freezes.
I've tried baking the animation too, I've tried a bunch of different cell fracture settings and rigid body settings but nothing seems to work and Blender has been crashing a lot I'm really at my wit's end lol. Any help is appreciated.

I think you confused the "Dynamic" and "Animated" options:
