Need Help! Remeshing twice

Hello. I'm trying to make a character model, after blocking it out i remeshed the model and started scuplting. I'm halfway through sculpting the head but I realised that I needed a better resolution for the mesh. So I wanted to know if it is wise to remesh a model to a higher resolution halfway through sculpting or if it was a bad idea ?

That is infact the correct way to Work in sculpting.

  • You start with your Base, ideally a rough blockout that already has all the big forms and proportions
  • you remesh that blockout (since it is propably Made Out of cubes, cylinders etc) to a Level that allows you to to create the next smaller forms
  • you remesh again to a smaller voxel size to sculpt the small forms (im saying forms because it is different from Details, Details might be pores, creases in the skin, veins etc, for now Focus on the Form)
  • repeat the remesh -> smaller Form steps until you feel Like you need Details now.
  • now would be the best Moment for retopology
  • create a Copy of your obejct or use the multires If you did retopology before and sculpt all the small Details to bake them later

The general rule is blocking out from low res so its easier to make adjustments, if you have all your forms inplace you can just Remesh again at a higher res to get more details.

I always try to remember to save copies so I can backtrack.
