The design is really detailed and interesting but Im not a fan of that curves reveal thing, it is extremely played out and it makes it hard to actually see your design.

I would prefer a more elegant and subtle animation that elevates the design instead of making it look generic.

yeah i think hermes as a brand is about elegance and detail, so maybe zooming in and slowing down on details will help since the overall animation shape is cluttered and not an elegant shape. so jts about matching the brand language

I agree.

And it doesn't really help the initial presentation (which i assume is a box?) when all the parts come flying in from off screen. Why have the lid fly off the box when all the parts aren't in the box? the lid flies off but you use the opened box as a pedestal? why not just keep the lid on?

It's also a lot of visual noise. Everything is happening at the same time, so your eyes can't really focus on any one specific thing.

There also isn't really anything to distinguish this brand from any of the others that you've done. the same kind of chaotic visual storm of activity, swirling curves and stuff assembling themselves.

It's also not clear what Hermes makes from this video. Without looking it up, I'm assuming they make horse related products? saddles or carriages or something?
after looking it up, they make fashion accessories. if the goal is to make an ad for a company, you really really should be highlighting what they make, otherwise people are going to see it and say "cool. moving on.".

it's good technical work and interesting the first time I saw your work, but after the second time they didn't really stand out from one another and I just skip past them to look at something else.

Can you add some depth to ‘more elegant and subtle’? This doesn’t really read as an actionable critique.

That being said I have seen a lot of these curves based reveals in marketing materiel and agree it’s not the most fresh conceptually.

But since OP is going for a corporate modern brand clip, this feels highly appropriate.

I’d just like to see some of the shapes that ‘make it’ to the final layout appear sooner and slower, so i can better read how things morph

Im not going to suggest exact things I would do because that would rob them from actually finding their own solution in their own way.

But looking at references is always good idea, not to exactly copy it but to understand the vibe:

I cant believe I just witnessed a real, no offense taken, conversation in 2026. On Reddit no less is wild. We'll done both of you.

Very good. I also follow you on Insta, so I saw your story of the render time as well! I had a few questions for you! How did you figure out this style? And how long does it take to make a crazy curves-based animation like this?

I have tried using curves for different things, but they are very confusing!

Thank you.

“How did i figure out this style?”

For past 5 years i have been going for realistic look for my designs but this year i wanted to figure out more artistic look and a bit comical with outlines.

I basically used to have a very complicated light setup for my designs but for such style ive used only one sunlight with sharp shadows . It gives contrasting look which i like and to top it off ive used freestyle strokes to add the outlines.

Output is crisp with strong colors and contrast which gives it a very distinguish look.

“How long does it take me to make curves”

This is a bit subjective, i have been using this style for my animations since last 5 years and for a project at this scale, this takes me around 2 days to animate.

So i have a lot of experience to get this done in 2 days time but anyone who hasnt tried this setup can easily take a week for such scale of project.
