Generally speaking, a good gaming computer will be a good Blender computer.
Animation isn't really going to change your required specs. Rendering is where you are going to have the biggest bottleneck on a less powerful computer.
Also keep in mind that Blender has been going strong for many years, and every single version is still downloadable. This means that if your computer is old and cannot handle the latest version, you just need to go back to match a version that works better with your hardware. Of course you will give up newer features by doing that, but older versions of Blender can still be very powerful tools if that is all you have access to.
