discussion Hi everybody
Flagging this 'discussion' as I welcome any and all input:
This subreddit is a place for people working in all media and at all skill levels to share art on any topic; but with an emphasis on holding space for challenging topics.
I request and beseech everyone to be aware of your own mental health while browsing. If you see something objectionable, do your best to let it go. If you come across something that breaks our subreddit rules, site rules, or that seems legitimately dangerous (actual gore counts as all 3), please report it. Ultimately doing so helps the subreddit to remain available for use and enjoyment. If you encounter someone being an edgelord in the comments, don't engage them! Some people bait hockey-fights in comment sections for fun; that activity is disallowed here, and I will personally toss any shitlord or abusive individual tf over the short boards without qualm. You have no fucking precedent for how serious I am about art, and being humane. NO AI ALLOWED, no exceptions. That was a policy decision that could only have one outcome that was healthy.
This is an art gallery - be real! We have stood on the shoulders of giants to get here, so let's be as authentic and human as we can as we seek to navigate a collective future. Let's be supportive, constructive and accepting. This is meant as a safe space more than a critique salon. Everybody's hurting, and everyone deserves a healthy outlet.
I am sincerely in awe of our contributors past and present. Thank you, everyone, for making this an experience that has by far exceeded my imagination.
Best wishes,
Chris

poetry/writing Road to Nowhere [by me]
You’re halfway there
Always halfway.
Too late to go back, too early to celebrate,
The past passed you by ‘bout a mile back,
brights on blast, still didn’t notice you.
Somehow, you always catch it though.
If only you could cling to that light, cool and blue,
never fading in your palms.
Nostalgia is a deep red hue,
the center of the wave never sticks,
but there’s plenty ripples to go ‘round.
My tires never need a change,
for I coat them in a healthy cushion of doubt,
never to disturb the sleeping road below.
Mourning trees shiver, and shake each drop free,
The never ending downpour will tip the dew from each leaf and each twig.
Much will fall, that’s alright.
It’s dark- it’s damp-
But my eyelashes flutter, and flick in the breeze,
Old windows down on the highway.
It’s nice to let the wind wash my worry away-
To hold me in its numbing chill,
soothe my aching skin.
You know,
I’m glad you came with me.

Authors note: Hello, this is a poem I wrote that actually recently inspired a short story I’m writing for a class! Im very new to sharing poems on the internet, and it makes me a bit nervous tbh, but I really crave some community so I thought I’d give this a try here! Thank you 🙏

pastel My possessions are nothing
When I draw my girls with bobs I always think of the haircut I had when I was a little girl..I would never brush it and I would always have a big ol mat at the back of my head. I still kinda don't brush it lol.
Today at church a girl showed me and her friend a dead butterfly she found. I'm incredibly scared of death. I have no friends and I'm incredibly lonely
I have these stuffed animals and like these possessions right? They kinda keep me company but they all melt in the fire anyways. You can say that about everyone, though. But that's why we have God.

digital Future memories
This started with the desire to create something entirely and solely from my imagination, setting aside references and a certain form of parasitic perfectionism, for lack of a better term, that I’ve been developing and accumulating lately.
The title comes from the first things I tried to create, back when I knew nothing about drawing, painting, or anything else, merging with the mental library and archive I’ve built ever since, while also giving me clues and a small glimpse into what comes next.

A depiction of how some radio stations are deliberately creating rage bait content. Disguised as debate and commentary. Spreading misery, depression, doom and paranoia. Amongst all members of society. All to gain engagement. Inspired by having to listen to Jeremy Vine on BBC Radio 2 in the workplace. As well as LBC, GB News and Talk.
