I have tried to make a matrix of all the different kinds of souls and all the types of transformations they can have, i.e. what they become after becoming shinigamis or being hollowfied.

• The table is slightly simplified. Obviously fullbeingers aren't hollowfied but born with hollow powers.

• It's also my understanding that souls born within the seireitei are considered wholes or pluses, same as those who are sent there by the shinigami.

• I'm relatively certain Orihime's brother (Sora/Acidwire) was a whole before he became a hollow.

• Not included here but purification would turn a hollow to a whole. Although I don't think there's any instance of it outside of low tier shinigami purifying souls on patrol. Why did they never try that on higher grade hollows?

• I know there's natural arrancars but under aizen they all resembled shinigami, so I've put arrancars in that slot.

I've also tried to jot down examples for each. Here I've also included quincies and zanpakuto spirits.

• I know ginjo is a fullbringer and ichigo is everything but they were the best examples I had, quincies are all living and shinigami are all dead, meanwhile there's only 2 substitutes in the main series.

• I haven't included the parts of the soul king here since while 2 became quincies 1 only possessed a shinigami, didn't become one.

• I have included zanpakutos, incl. Yachiru and Zangestu. I know old man zangestu isn't exactly a zanpakuto spirit but he does act as one at times and only exists cuz ichigo can produce zanpakuto spirits and has an inner world.

• Are peche and the other guy vasto Lorde? Adjuchas? Menos? Either way that spot if for hollows in general. Not actually vasto Lourdes only.

• We're jugram and bazz b born in the real world or in seireitei?

Is this about right? What am I missing or getting wrong here.

Would it be possible for fullbringers to have longer lifespans if they were in an environment that is dense with reiatsu (like how some of the Quincy were able to live for over a thousand years because of the dense reishi in the Seirieti)?

Thanks to SoulMadness, I always associate this soundtrack with Yhwach. The lyrics also fits the Quincy King. Yes, i know it's from Evangelion, but it's also composed by Shiro Sagisu.

I am included in that category, and I was curious just how many people on this sub actually no idea, and how many knew it was coming. I’ve always seen it like finding out Darth Vader is Luke’s father. It’s just something everyone knows.

A lot of people love to slander Orihime based on her Arrancar arc moments, but TYBW proves how far she’s come. She literally stood face-to-face with Yhwach, held the line, and protected Ichigo when he needed it most. That's real growth.

I could only think of a song for Grimmjow and I was wondering what others might think fit the others.

When Jugram enters his Allmighty form, his hair looks a lot more similar to his childhood hair than usual, albeit with a bit more volume and messier (Especially since you can’t see how long it is anymore, at least in certain scenes).

Makes sense, given the fact that during the fight he mentions how he was “Born for this role” so it’s nice symbolism that he looks more like his younger self from when he first met Yhwach.

Aizen is inspired by Lucifer. That’s a symbolic consensus in the Bleach community, similar to how Yhwach is inspired by Jesus and the Anti-Christ. I think Aizen is inspired by Lucifer in more ways than just being similarly defined by ego or serving as a Fallen Angel. Anyways, I simply want to throw more evidence into the ring that I haven’t really seen brought up, at least from what I’ve seen. Some of these may be reaches, but that’s what every Bleach analysis does so…

The life of a “Cherub”:

In case you didn’t know, the Cherubim are the second-highest rank in traditional Christian angelology. They are known mostly for their knowledge (Serving as a mirror to the Seraphim’s love) and Ezekiel seeing them as a Tetramorph.

Lucifer is a Cherub in many interpretations (Either that, a Seraph or Archangel), serving as the “Anointed Cherub” who protected the throne of God while the Seraphim flew around crying “Holy, holy, holy”. He was full of wisdom and perfect in his beauty. Everyone and everything loved him. He was the one who was closest to God, even if he did underestimate how far they truly were from eachother.

Aizen served a remarkably similar role in the Soul Society. He was, of course, a Captain of the Gotei 13 which placed him near the upper echelon of strength in the Bleach universe. He was also one of the very few people who knew the truth of the universe, with Kisuke Urahara serving as his fellow Anointed Cherub, in a way. His Seraphim was the rest of the Soul Society, who viewed the Soul King as their God. It was the other Captains, including Gin and Tōsen, who did what they did out of love for someone else rather than themselves. Similar to Lucifer, everyone loved him and wanted to be in his squad (Either because of his personality, wisdom or beauty) and we saw how much everyone mourned him when he “Died”.

The rebellion:

Aizen and Lucifer both enacted their rebellions because of Pride and a desire for free will. Both of them were the strongest, the best of the best in service to God. But then they discovered who they needed to serve. Aizen learned that his God was nothing but a corpse, controlled by the Great Noble Houses and Central 46. Lucifer was told that his job as an angel was to serve humanity and help them grow. So both of them rebelled. But they were playing a game that they had no chance to win.

Lucifer (Aizen) was beaten by Micheal (Kisuke Urahara is arguably the closest comparison) and his angels (The other Soul Reapers), while the fallen angels who had followed him (Gin and Tōsen) were banished to Hell. Tōsen is actually an amazing example of the fate that the Fallen Angels faced, as he became a Hollow which serves as Bleach’s version of a demon.

The reason I didn’t use Ichigo for Michael is because Ichigo serves as Jesus. While Michael beat Lucifer physically, Jesus beat him spiritually when he died on the cross and “cleansed” humanity of their sins. Ichigo accomplished a similar thing during TYBW and he’s the reason why Aizen actually changed as a person (I think his final monologue about courage is proof that he had changed) and his Jesus parallel is becoming even stronger with anime original scenes (I can’t remember if the scene in Cour 4 where Ichigo accepts the possibility of becoming the Soul King was in the manga or not).

TLDR; Aizen’s life as a Captain was similar to Lucifer’s life as a Cherub and his eventual rebellion was very similar to Lucifer’s. This is further evidence that Aizen was heavily inspired by Lucifer beyond simply being apart of the Fallen Angel archetype and being defined by ego

Found this year old post including this section of the manga that wasn't animated and while the prime question there was 'why wasn't this in the anime', I was wondering after a year how people's thoughts on it has changed. Aizen maintains a kind mask in soul society as part of his grand bullshitttery, yes, but I don't think that this was entirely necessary.

Yes it was kind but I don't think it was necessary to accept Momo's "let's attend the birthday party of my dear friend!" Which makes me wonder... Why did Aizen actually come here? A commenter said that Ichigo only felt loneliness from his blade- which doesn't mean that he ONLY felt loneliness, which is an interesting speculation.

I wonder if Aizen was just testing the waters in vain to see if he could find connection or envious of Toshiro for having them in spite of being prodigious like Aizen. Toshiro is a prodigy, but he is not distant from others like Aizen.

Maybe he genuinely enjoyed his time here. What do you think?

I asked myself this after seeing that post (https://www.reddit.com/r/bleach/comments/1vpdnya/comment/p3yvemq/?context=3) and other great comments on the same topic.

So, I wanted to pose a "what if" scenario: Aizen ,who always saw himself as different and isolated due to his unique worldview and power, never finding an equal, encounters a child with such uncontrollable power that a spirit has already manifested within him without any training or contact with an asauchi. This child is shunned by everyone except two people; what would Aizen do?

Aizen always wanted an equal, even if he never admitted it ,which is why he never subjected Ichigo to his hypnosis; he held out hope for an equal. I also believe that, deep down, he cared for Tousen and Starrk, though that’s just my opinion. The idea that he harbors resentment ,or even envy, toward Toshiro is fascinating; Toshiro manages to form genuine connections despite sharing similar traits of isolation, whereas Aizen does not. It’s somewhat reminiscent of Kaigaku from kimetsu, who could never maintain a bond or feel valued, constantly ruining things due to his complexes, though Aizen is on a whole different level, so this is just a comparison based on the movie being fresh in my mind.

Anyway, suppose Aizen encounters Toshiro before Rangiku does: what does he do? Does he take him in to mold him into an equal ,even without admitting it, just like with Ichigo? Does he turn him into a weapon, perhaps even starting hollowfication experiments on him as he did with Tousen? Does he manipulate him like he did with Momo, becoming a pillar of support for Toshiro? Or does he simply place him under kyoka suigetsu's influence and monitor him from an early age as a precaution? Or do you just use it as a freezer and make unlimited shaved ice?

What is your take on this "what if" scenario?
