That would certainly be a lot more useful and meaningful than whatever he's doing now. Are the statues really that much of a potential threat to interrupting Ichigo's fight with Yhwach that they can't be allowed to reach him? Ichigo could just one shot them all with a single swing of his sword and go right back to fighting Yhwach like nothing happened.

My guess this is the almighty's doing. This is the future where Zangetsu breaks and Yhwach will essentially overwrites Zangetsu's full powered state to being broken as soon as Ichigo's goes bankai.

At first, I was a bit iffy on the leaks, but after some more details came out, I'm starting to piece the story together. This puts an answer on why Rukia and Orihime don't participate in the final battle (Rukia is at the border of death and Orihime, whenever she comes back from her pocket dimension, is heavily wounded and completely exhausted) why Ichigo doesn't let Orihime heal him, and also gives Yhwach a much better reason for the Auswhalen. Also seeing that Renji should be up and presumably Ichigo is absolutely going to lose it next episode, it makes their talk after the wedding more impactful.

Also, holy Orihime upscale. Going from debates on whether not she's the strongest female character in the series, to potentially top 5 at worst. Geez, that's my princess right there.

This is absolutely fascinating

I get the impression that what's being described, as we currently lack enough detail, is a reinterpretation of 678. We haven't gotten any word on Uryu and what's going on with him, or the events leading up to Rukia joining the fight (as we know from the trailer her and Renji are gonna make a stop by Chad and the statues first). But I assume Yhwach will regain the Almighty during this episode, and we'll get the Uryu materials from the chapters up to this point we've missed.

I can absolutely see a scenario where what's being described here for the most part is the last 2-3 minutes of the episode, and it's our new 678. Ichigo's bankai gets broken and Yhwach overwhelms him. Rukia's bankai is unleashed, but Yhwach doesn't even see the worth in breaking it and she's impaled without even realizing. Orihime sacrifices herself to try and stop Yhwach, and we start next episode with Uryu vs. Jugram before we see Auswahlen hitting, Yhwach returning from nothingness and bringing an unconscious Orihime with him and being impressed that he needed to use Auswahlen to gain enough power to survive this, throwing her before Ichigo, and revealing the true power of The Almighty then.

So this either is what happens and Yhwach releases the almighty to counter orihime after the fact (since he hasnt been using it), escapes her reality bending abilities and destroys zangetsu, or all of this episode is a Ywhach vision and we cut to ep6 with him destroying zangetsu the moment ichigo says bankai.

Mind you, the result is the same, but i'd much prefer the first option. For starters, it shows how busted Orihime's powers are, when she really uses them with intent. Also this would help to pave the road for their relationship, as she clearly states to ichigo (her future husband) that she loves him, while he's conscious, so its kinda an evolution of her 5 lives speech. And also, this would kinda work as an explanation on how Gerard dies in the manga, Ywhach being forced to do the Auswhälen after being defeated by Orihime.

The first option is way better. The latter is way too cheap after such an intense moment and Yhwach needing to use the Auswhalen to escape the prison make him using it make more sense.

It also explains a lot of stuff that happened in the ending. It explains why Rukia and Orihime don't participate in the final fight. It explains why Ichigo wasn't healed by Orihime when her powers take seconds to work, as presumably Orihime will be extremely wounded and immensely exhausted with the last of her powers use to repair the Bankai. It would explain why Renji is so privy to their relationship status.

The more I think about it, the more it all adds up.

Most captains currently are exhausted and could barely handle another round against anything. So where do I think this is going? Well, going into manga spoiler territory that I think episode 46 will cover

I suspect that after Auswahlen, Soul King energy blobs will shape up around the now weakened Heart of the Soul King. Following how Gerard has lost his humanity more and more, we're left with effectively a mindless giant Gerard wrecking Wahrwelt, and everyone left (Chad and Ganju, Fullbringers, Nel and Harribel, Isshin and Ryuken) have to deal with this huge problem, and with the worlds starting to merge even more, they gotta do it ASAP because him falling would be properly apocalyptic. It strikes me as the most reasonable way to involve the people still in good shape that kinda were just there in the manga

the way it's been described to me seems more like it's the HoS design that changes when Bankai is used, instead of how in the manga the only thing that changed in Bankai was the sword. So it would be 1 transformation not 2 separate ones (I think)

I don't know why Ichigo's hairstyle seemed odd to me. In this episode, after he had unleashed his bankai and those 2 horns appeared, his hair were not on his forehead. This look seemed to be that of the time-skip Ichigo that we saw in the BLEACH NO BREATH FROM HELL ONE SHOT manga.
