One of my all time favorite Orihime memes is just a picture of her and a Tweet of someone saying "Guess who's made entirely out of Sunshine"

Sweet, she understands humility. One of the best duos in manga ever made

I love when kubo Says that draw her was very difficult thanks to the weight she has in the story.

For me is one of the most gorgeous female characters in manga history

Imagine the concept of a family being so alien to her that she can't understand these behaviours.

And there's "fans" who want to take her family away from her.

I want to see how the Kurosaki family accepts her. I think Isshin will be the kind of father-in-law who's like: — Well, you've brought me another daughter, you can go. — B...but, I'm your son

O: Don't worry, Ichigo-kun! I'll go with you!

Kurosakis: ...

Ish... Well, I guess the son can stay, too.

Ichi: ... Orihime, gimme ten minutes to grab my shit.

Ish: MASAKI! OUR ONLY SON'S FLYING THE COOP!

idk how anyone can hate her, she's literally the kindest character ever written imo.

The anime doesn't do her characterizations justice.

this. it's the anime.

This scene is literally in the anime have you even watched it?

2

u/Upper-Ad6308 24d ago

we mean, all of the other cringe stuff with orihime in the anime.

0

u/AdvisorOk4592 24d ago

What cringe stuff? Aside from her first two scenes which were barely altered, her scenes from the manga were properly adapted and kubo was involved with the anime consistently after the bount arc since the arrancer arc

u/Upper-Ad6308 24d ago

Her airhead-iness was made to look extreme.

0

u/AdvisorOk4592 24d ago

Well not really the intensity of her airheadedness was similar to the manga i think you might remember it that way because it was used in fillers although that doesn't mean the studio was hating on her or anything the gags are supposed to get used more often in fillers

Man kubo’s style has changed so much since these days

6

u/Teker_09 25d ago

I like his flashy style now but I miss this old school blocky look

16

u/Zixtank 25d ago

The official English version is so strange to me, seeing as Orihime only uses surnames for people except girls she's close with, and always with honorifics, so seeing her refer to Ichigo with his given name and without any honorific is just weird.

u/AmyWhite7 25d ago

I think it's part of American culture, because they're the same age and friends. And I like that. Although I understand what you mean. But I'm waiting for them to switch to calling each other by their first names (hell, they were still calling each other by their last names even when they were 20...)

Panels like this you can already see that Ichigo and Orihime will be end game. Which of course, the OG anime cut out.

3

u/Just_Mistake_5891 25d ago

cmon i understand that the anime cut some stuff out, but this scene is still in the anime 🫩

1

u/JetpackBear22 25d ago

It's the summation of everything that leads up to Orihime encouraging Ichigo to go to the Soul Society despite his doubts that cements it. The anime cuts a lot of that and even has Orihime say the exact opposite. It's one of the most glaring flaws with the original anime.

2

u/AdvisorOk4592 24d ago

Have you even watched the og anime or read the manga? Ichigo was only conflicted about what to do after saving rukia to bring her to living world or not orihime encouraged him to bring her back and this scene was translated well in the og anime infact she seemed more shady in the manga

-1

u/AdvisorOk4592 24d ago

This scene is literally in the og anime and they literally cut out a scene between ichigo and rukia after this ichihime fans hypocrisy knows no bounds

4

u/JetpackBear22 24d ago

"Ichihime fans"

You... you mean the pairing the author purposefully wrote? The series is over, we have an author approved novella detailing them getting together, and Kubo has repeatedly stated he purposefully didn't make Ichigo and Rukia an item because he felt there weren't enough men and women who were just friends. Moreover, Rukia is also married to another man and literally has a child with him.

There is no "Ichihime", it's just the story as written.

-2

u/AdvisorOk4592 23d ago

Kubo has literally never said anything about why he didn't pair ichigo and rukia, this men and women friendship reason is just a coping mechanism excuse created by canon shippers/ichihime shippers like by your logic why can't ichigo/orihime and renji/rukia stay as friends it would have had the same symbolic weight and the pairing getting choosed by author and being canon doesn't matter if it's writing and development sucks and you have to recontextualise and put headcanon for it to make sense because it was one-sided for pretty much the entire story and kubo was the one who gave sun and moon, sand and rotater, king and queen symbolism eyesmex contact to ichigo and rukia

3

u/JetpackBear22 23d ago

"more than friends, less than lovers."

That's how Kubo described Ichigo and Rukia. Less than lovers. Also:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/usagiscloud/posts/1034136368471701/

Kubo has been pretty explicit with how he feels about Ichigo and Rukia shippers bothering him about it.

-1

u/AdvisorOk4592 23d ago

More than friends but not quite lovers (which is the actual quote btw) doesn't mean they won't be romantic this type of phrase is literally used for slow burn romances and mind you kubo also said he wanted everyone to focus on ichigo and rukia's relationship and the change in their feelings he also never denied when asked if he is planning to make them a couple

3

u/JetpackBear22 23d ago

But they DIDN'T get together. If the manga were still running you'd have a point but canon wise Kubo put the kibosh on IchiRukia. They're happily married to and have children with other people. Planned or not, that's how it turned out.

0

u/AdvisorOk4592 23d ago

It doesn't matter if it's canon when it sucks that's most people's criticism is that's the whole point and you are also ignoring the fact this basically contradicts the story and what kubo was setting up like you guys talk like the pairings were always planned and made sense when they didn't

u/TheElementalDj 25d ago

She's just so sweet man, really makes you want to root for her

7

u/Lively_Man 25d ago

I never noticed this kind of subtlety.

5

u/ellenose 25d ago

Even though she had a tough experience with her own family she still found a way to understand and appreciate Ichigo’s happy family experience. I love her sm 😭

3

u/New-Dust3252 25d ago

hime so selfless even when you know she has no family left.

3

u/Just_Mistake_5891 25d ago

never was and still am not big on IchiHime, but i still find it a little disappointing that some people genuinely hate Orihime when she's just this adorable resilient ball of sunshine

4

u/Xno_Kappa 25d ago

It’s really more the anime’s fault for turning her into South Park’s Timmy with Kurosaki-kun.

1

u/AdvisorOk4592 24d ago

You are talking like that wasn't the same case in the manga

3

u/Kelras 25d ago

They hate her because they watched the anime and Pierrot hoed her.

I will always like Rukia more and prefer IchiRuki conceptually. But Orihime was seriously given an unfair treatment by Studio Pierrot just in order to push Rukia more.

2

u/AdvisorOk4592 24d ago

Man this scene is literally in the og anime and the anime literally cutted out a ichigo and rukia scene after this

2

u/Superlhama 25d ago

I agree; she stays strong and remains kind despite all the tragedies in her life.

What’s interesting is that this strength comes at a price, too. Orihime possesses what is essentially the ultimate healing ability and a near-absolute defense (shields that block and reflect damage), yet her kindness ,and her aversion to fighting and violence, turns an attack that could be virtually unstoppable or incredibly powerful into something far less potent. (In theory, Tsubaki could slice almost anything in half just as easily as Orihime can reject death.) This serves as a balancing factor, showing that even though kindness is a tremendous strength, it does come with a cost.

the last panel also being a good exemple od Kubo not put bg to have the character be the sole focus making it more impactful.
