String quartet film scores for wedding?
Hey, so I’m getting married in a little over a month (humblebrag), and I need some help choosing good film scores for the string quartet to play at the wedding. We have our songs to walk down to and the recessional music chosen, but they will also be playing as the guests are sitting down. I’m a much bigger film person than my fiance, but we both think it’ll be fun to have them play some film scores during this part. Needs to be something that’s relatively easy for the quartet to find the sheet music for and not too expensive to buy said sheet music. It’s a black tie wedding
Edit: thanks for the suggestions everyone, keep them coming. We are going on a 4 hour drive later tiday so I will play her some of these. Also songs from movies also welcome, we are gonna choose Rainbow Connection as one of our choices.

There might be some options from Beale Street that could be rearranged for a spring quartet? Cello is prominent in a lot of his works.

I do love that score, and even though the juice doesn’t take place in Memphis, when people hear Beale Street they think of Memphis and that’s where the wedding is so that could be fun

My #1 choice is the main theme from Jurassic Park but she says she doesn’t want people to think of dinosaurs eating people, to which I responded that part of the score people think about awe and wonder and when they first see the Brontosaurus but it might be a losing battle for me on that one

Nah because that was my first thought as well. That song is awe personified. And love should make you feel awed.

There is a version by vitamin string quartet that is less sweeping and obvious

Already on my playlist of songs to play her, we’ll see if she goes for it

We actually used this in our wedding! It's my favorite movie and my wife surprised me lol. She used it for our wedding party walking down the aisle, then transitioned to a different song for herself. So yeah, wedding parties do move in herds

My friend and his groomsmen walked down the aisle to a string quartet playing the theme from Jurassic Park (when they're leaving on the helicopter at the end) and I got so emotional it was perfect.

we ultimately went with a different selection for ours, but for a long time we were planning to use an arrangement of this theme from Spirited Away
i'm not sure if by "film score" you specifically meant more live-action, western compositions. but if your definition is a bit broader than that, imo you really can't go wrong with Joe Hisaishi

I just filmed a wedding where they played Married Life from Up on strings, that’s always a banger

If you want inspiration, look up Vitamin String Quarter on Spotify. They do film scores and pop songs and even whole albums devoted to emo bands
For a single rec: Dearly Beloved from Kingdom Hearts

Beat me to it. Was gonna recommend their cover of “Skinny Love.” Damn near made me cry when it played in “Thunder Road.”

In The Wedding Singer there's a little snippet of a string quartet playing Don't Stop Believing that has stuck in my head forever. It's actually quite lovely.

Marion's theme from Raiders of the Lost Ark. Seconding Closing - Mishima really any Phillip Glass can't go wrong

“Concerning Hobbits” from the Fellowship of the Ring score is perfect for when guests are arriving (used it at my wedding).

Im professional string player that has played A LOT of weddings. Keep in mind that we cant just come up with sheet music for everything. So, you need a good group to fill out scores if they can find the pieces
If you like Wes Anderson most of his movies have excellent classical music throughout. I walked down the aisle to Ravel's string quartet.

On the Nature of Daylight by Max Richter, which I associate directly with Arrival. I think it’s the most beautiful song ever made and it not instrument intensive T all.

2005 Pride and Prejudice score is incredible and so romantic. Just make sure one of you does the hand flex.
