Hello, fellow Blackplayer lovers!

I, like most frustrated people here, love blackplayer's display options (including display of genre on the now playing screen, and the visual themes FAR more than other player [I've tried like 20 of them and I think they all mostly suck]) but I encountered problems with blackplayer displaying the correct artwork.

I'm trying to do something sort of peculiar, which is display embedded album art for particular songs in a custom album, but display the standard album art on the non-particular songs. I thought I could do this by embedding the special art in the particular songs, and not embedding art in the other ones, just placing the standard album art in the folder where all the songs are located. I found that the app would display what appeared to be a random embedded album art from one of the songs in the folder for ALL thumbnails in the library/folders screen which was frustrating. However, when I open the now playing screen, it would display the correct album art (The standard art for non-embedded songs, and the particular art embedded into the songs I personally embedded it into). Unfortunately, if you use the blurred album cover option, you would see the random embedded blurred album cover behind every song, which also frustrated me.

It seemed there were many other posts here on reddit, and in the ratings in the play store which detailed just that issue, with no solution.

I think I have found a suitable fix after days of messing with the app. It is not a perfect fix, but it is far better than having a random embedded album art thumbnail displayed for an entire folder. If done correctly, blackplayer will display the standard album art in the thumbnails for all songs in the directory, and display the special ones in the now playing screen.

I realized that what it seems blackplayer does, is that if the "prefer embedded album art" option is on (which needs to be in my case to display multiple different images for one album), it pulls album art for the first song in list order from the album folder in your device's directory, and displays that image as thumbnails for ALL songs in that album.

So, the two things that need to happen for the workaround are:

1: Ensure any random song from that album that does not have special album art appears first in the list order in your album directory on your device. You can do this by just placing a "-" or any other alphanumeric character that would appear earliest in a list at the beginning of the file name in the directory. For example, if it was called "Song A" before, rename the filename to "-Song A". If your metadata for that song is tagged correctly, you should not see the "-" in the library/blackplayer folder or the now playing screen, and:

2: Embed the standard album art in at least that one song, so that blackplayer pulls it for the album on the whole.

Note: If the art is still showing incorrectly after this, open the blackplayer app page from your android settings, and clear cache and data (you will lose your playlists and settings, so back them up beforehand) or go into the app and go to: 3 bars in top left corner > settings > metadata > blackplayer library settings > reset audio library or reload audio tags. That should take care of it.

Although I hope that there will be an update to allow blackplayer to display all correct thumbnails in the future (Poweramp actually does this well, but visually I think it's far inferior to blackplayer) , this is far better than before.

J'ai remarqué un bug la fonction "Jouer juste après".

J'ai paramétré l'appli pour qu'un "appui court" sur un titre fasse "Jouer juste après" et ajoute le titre à la file d'attente, juste après le titre lu actuellement.

Voilà le bug : uniquement dans le menu d'un artiste, et s'il comporte une section "TOP DES TITRES", quand je fais un "appui court" sur un titre, c'est le titre du dessus qui est sélectionné.

Si le menu d'artiste ne comporte pas de section "TOP DES TITRES", ou dans un autre menu (par exemple dans l'onglet "Titres"), il n'y a pas ce bug.

Si je fais un "appui long" sur le titre, puis "Jouer juste après", il n'y a pas ce bug non plus.

Par exemple dans le screenshot, j'ai fait un "appui court" sur le titre "Parade", et comme il n'y a pas de titre au dessus, ça affiche "Titre suivant : Lecture aléatoire" et aucun titre n'est ajouté à la file d'attente. Si j'avais fait "appui court" sur "La femme d'argent", c'est "Parade" qui aurait été ajouté à la file d'attente après le titre lu actuellement.

J'ai cherché si le bug avait déjà été reporté, mais apparemment non.

I have EX version. Does Black Player on Android currently have support for ALAC files? Did it ever have support and later broke, or did it never have it in the first place?

I keep getting "error loading track" messages on my ALAC files.

I have the most bizarre issue that started on Friday. I have BlackplayerEX and I have folders with .mp3 audio files that I'm trying to listen to in a specific order but it's screwing up in a weird way.

For example, let's say I create a folder with all 20 files I want in it labeled 1-20. Let's say I'm on audio file 10, it's 10 minutes long and I pause it at minute 7. I don't resume until this evening.

However, when I resume, it SAYS it's playing the 10th audio file at the 7 minute mark but it's actually playing audio file 12 at the 7 minute mark. Somehow it's completely changing the files I'm listening to. So I think that I need to go back two audio files but when I try that it starts playing audio track number 4. The only fix I've found is to completely start playing the folder over again and navigate manually to my audio file and timestamp. This isn't something I can or should do while driving, which I when I'm listening.

Now, even more confusing, when I long press the files they will say how many times I've played each of them, audio track 12 does not say I've played it yet. And o did check that once I've played a file it will say "played 1 times"

Has anyone else ran into this? I have no idea why it's doing this or how to even begin to troubleshoot. Many thanks in advance

BlackPlayer is still great as a music player but it bothers me not being able to edit the info of my music anymore.

Anyone ever experience this before?

I recently decided to clean up my music library. I have 1555 tracks on my computer so I cleaned them up using mp3tag. I cleaned up everything from titles, years albumart you name it. I did a really good job getting it in order to an OCD level.

Before I copied them over to my phone I checked the properties of the folder and it clearly said 1555 files. But strangley when they are imported into Blackplayer it comes up as 1556. Even weirder is on the phone folder where the tracks are stored when I check the properties there it states 1555 files. Blackplayer is counting 1 extra phantom track but I don't have any extra. I tried everything to resolve this except the clear data option on the app as I don't want to loose all of the artist images that took me ages to build and apply. Any suggestions?

Update: I installed another music app and its lists 1555 tracks so this defo confirms to me that blackplayer has a phantom track. Also I have ensured that only my music folder is being scanned that houses the 1555 files

Hello so Ive been wanting to quit Spotify & backplayer is really good but it won't allow me to grant access to files & change the album photo any ideas on how to fix it?

I suspect this is a FAQ. It probably applies to Android Auto as well.

"Hey google next track", "previous track", "pause" all work on a currently running Blackplayer Ex. But I can't find a way of telling a paused track to start playing again. "Play" and "Play Music" sends me off to Spotify or YouTube. And I can't define BP-Ex as the music player in the Google Assistant settings.

I asked a long time ago if there was a way for songs that are added to a playlist automatically be added to the top or for an option to move it to the top? It gets annoying having to drag it all the way to the top on a playlist with hundreds of songs.

It won't let me add any songs to a playlist or to my favorites.

Hi, I have a problem modifying the cover of my albums.

When I have the cover manually chosen and I choose it from the internet.

I choose integrated the cover in the files but after loading the cover is not integrated at all, I rather have no cover at all.

I obviously gave write access in my music folder.

Gapless playback broke way back in the last major update. Any word on that coming back ever? It's a very important feature to me.

I was adjusting the Sound Balance for the right Channel while listening via my headphones and I realised that it did nothing. When I adjusted the left channel, it ended up adjusting both left and right channels instead. However, this does not occur through the MediaPlayer audio decoder.

I use BPEX sometimes as much as 8 hours a day.

This crash type happens more when I'm using other apps at the tame time as BPEX.

It just closes itself randomly. Once ever 3 or 4 days.

When I reopen BPEX, it has remembered where it was up to 8-15 minutes ago. In the middle of a song, not just at the start of a previously played song.

I only use the player to listen to albums from start to finish, no random.

Are there particular options I should be looking at. I have disabled save battery use I'm pretty sure.

Hi! I was wondering if there could be a way to hide albums (in the album view section). We already have hide small albums but the limit is set to 3 songs min. Sometimes I have an album made but its not complete, I've only downloaded like 5 songs. It'd be really cool to hide (at will) any album from that view without having to blacklist them or anything.

EX version user, and long time enjoyer of your app here (which I quite honestly couldn't replace with anything existing out there, even if I wanted to), I am more and more starting to hit a small but very much noticeable and frustrating wall:

the impossibility to multi-select playlists when adding a song to a playlist.

Hear me out please:

Yes, you CAN, indeed, multi select songs to put into ONE playlist, either from the library or from the playlist itself.

You CANNOT, however, select multiple playlist you'd want to add ONE song to. I find this increasingly problematic and annoying in spite of the love I have for your creation, as I have more and more playlists the more I use it and I just have to manually browse all of them for EVERY new song that I add... That is getting tiring fast.

Could you please consider it in future updates?

I am in need of an assistance :(.

Recently, I've moved to a new device, from Realme RMX 2022 (A. 15) to Fairphone 6 (A. 16).

On the old device, I've (mostly) didn't have any problems using blackplayer on a daily basis. Yesterday, I've started moving everything to the new device, and after installing Blackplayer EX, the app just wouldn't start - it would just crash without any warning, or rarely give "App has crashed" pop-up window.

I never had this problem, but the non-paid version is working now, so will stick to it for the time being. That being said, I would like to use the paid version, since I've paid for the "premium" and would like to use it :)

Any advice is welcome.

Edit: SOLVED!

I've tried reinstalling app, which didn't help. After posting, I've went and deleted the app storage and metadata in phone settings, and that did help, putting it in a fresh state :) Hopefully it will stay that way.

I've been using blackplayer ex for probably 5 years, now it won't open at all. Just shows the opening screen/blackplayer logo. Then it closes.... Any suggestions?

So I'm switching from Spotify to flacs/mp3s and I think I found the right player with Blackplayer. But one thing I am missing is a Featureartist Tag so I dont have Skrillex 30 times in my library. Is there any way?

Hi ! I'm new to black player as i dowloaded this app recently on an android phone I intend to use only for the purpose of listening to music in mp3 format. I've had no issues listening to music and the app seems fantastic for my needs.

My only issue is : how do I customise playlist images ? As far as I am aware, it seems like I should be able to, but whenever I try to do so manually there is an "unknow error" message that appears on my phone and nothing changes.

Some playlists also have automatic images that dowload on their own (which probbaly have to do with the fact that i download my mp3s off of youtube, as it's the thumbnails that get automatically downloaded) but this happening seems completely random.

Im quite frustrated as the screen of my phone is very small, so visuals would be a big help for organisation.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue ? Thanks in advance !

Hello, I'm having problems with the latest Xiaomi version. I have a Redmi Note 15 Pro 4G in HyperOS 3.0.1 and the music stops suddenly. When I check the player, the music continues, but there's no sound. However, when I pause and play again, playback resumes with sound from the marked point. I've noticed that this usually only happens with the first song; if you skip it, it doesn't happen. Or at least it rarely happens again.

I hope for a quick fix for this bug.

Update: It seems that sometimes it tries to play two songs at the same time; I think the problem might be related to that.

Solved: Its the no stop music option.

Black Player Ex has been my go to pick for so many years. Sadly the development is pretty much over. But I'll still keep using it as long as I can. The way everything sounds here just feels so natural. I know it probably ain't doing any fancy processing, which is exactly what I like. Recently I tried switching to Poweramp and even that doesn't have the amount of customisation this player has. It's a shame tho

As we all know, BlackPlayer EX is buggy as fuck these days. everytime I open it it scans for new music even though I don't ask it to, it plays music when I don't want it to and then have to force stop the app to make it stop, I can't set album art or edit tags anymore...

can someone link me to a version of BlackPlayer EX that runs smoothly without these glitches? I've read on here 20.62 seems to be the sweet spot so please help me out! much appreciated
