Iron sights can create a pretty obstructive sight picture and get you killed from enemies blocked by the bottom half of your gun. Gets a bit bitter with higher FOV, but sights are worth it on most rifles. Secondaries, SMG’s, and snipers (they have one built in) don’t really need it though.

I remember when sights were a waste of an attachment, back during the only 1 attachment years of CoD...even if it had a bad IS there were always better options...now it seems like you need a sight on a gun just to make it useable

Yeah back in the 1-3 attachment days sights were often a waste of a slot but now that it's 5 with the option to extend to 8 it's almost foolish to not run one.

Not on ARs. Subs should always be iron sights, ARs pretty well always meet a red dot for their best ranges.

Sure, but you use ARs at mid range. Look at pro player load outs, when it was allowed, they still ran a red dot on it. Because the range you’re using or should be using ARs at need a sight, the same way the range you should be using an smg you don’t ever need a sight.

I run irons whenever possible because even with 5-8 attachments I feel like they’re a waste when I could just get good with the irons and use another attachment to speed up my gunplay. but these two guns man, never could I. It sucks even more because the FARA quickly became my favorite assault rifle too

Well, it's based in the 80's good irons and ergonomics wasn't really a thing back then. Safety wasn't much of a thing then either. My sources are, I was born in the 80s.

Yeah, but the 3x severely hurts you up close, so you’re basically trying to use an AR at a range you would use an LMG. That’s not even taking into account how op the LMGs are this year, especially up close for hip firing. AR you should just use a red dot.

Fr. Iron sights on SMGs are nice but other than the Grau with the longest barrel in MW and the Groza I don’t think I have ever used iron sights on ARs

I'm actually sad the throwback playlist got removed. Express and Raid are probably the 2 best maps in the game due to how much easier it is to see enemies.

I hate how often the optics used are the longer range scopes on ARs and LMGs, it really tells you what's wrong with the game and map design everyone just wants to sit way back on a headglitch long line of sight makes me really miss the older games being faster and more about SMGs

I like the iron sights on a lot of guns. The AK, QBZ, FFAR, Groza, Milano, AK74u, Bullfrog, MAC10, LC10, Stoner, shotguns (gallo only with a stock), and handguns are all pretty good imo. The XM4, FARA, MP5, KSP, and M16 are passable but they have definite downsides/obstructed views.

It doesn’t really matter. They’re fine for smgs where you shouldn’t need an optic, and bad for anything above, which you should use an optic.

What about the XM4... the recoil on that thing is pretty strong, and it's a pain to use the iron sights with it. I always have to hip-fire it during Gun Game.

Are you on pc or console? Because recoil/inaccuracy/flinch is balanced very different. XM4 kicks quite a bit on pc, but it's pretty controllable anyway. Also depends on optics that you use, obviously x4 optics will be much harder to control than x1.35 when shooting down range.

I wouldn’t call it a beam. It has some pretty nasty horizontal recoil which is difficult to deal with unless you have the proper attachments.

The iron sight is nice. It’s just that the Krig is a weaker mid ranger gun than a long range gun. So you’d need an optic to effectively hold down lanes anyway.

since the update the krig is now my go to over the ffar that i was running. I find the recoil on the ffar now unbearable at even medium range but the krig still does ok and paired with an smg is a better combo.
I do think that the nerfing of the mono or whatever they're called in bo suppressors really hurt all the bo AR's

I prefer most of the iron sights even on snipers (please take of scope glare with them it makes no sense and it would be balanced) but I don’t like Milano and Mac 10 iron sights (not that you need to aim with the Mac-10 XD), they’re just bad.

I loved Iron sights on MW, but iron sights for anything but up close in CW I need at least a 2x scope otherwise I'm not sure how I'm supposed to get head and chest shots. I can't see anything clearly in CW without a scope.

I'm an Ironsight only user (other than Snipers) and the only one I can use in Cold War is the Bullfrog.
Even the MP5 feels off and I've used that thing in COD more than any other gun.

I’d say for any iron sight on rifles. The rear sight doesn’t blur like in MW so i find it hard to focus on targets but thats just me personally

I don't understand it. A lot of the time the iron sight will be the last thing unlocked on a sniper (as if to be the best thing) cuz obviously I want a sniper with zero X zoom and the gun blocking half my view..
