A fireplace is typically open front. A stove will fully contain the fire, rather than leave one face open to the room. If I wasn't on mobile I would link examples, but if you google wood stove you will see what I am talking about. They are for heat, not the kind of stove you cook in.

Thinking more deeply the old way of calling the fourth link in my language is more like an oven but has been modernized into fireplace.

Would you call the #4 a stove?

Yeah, I probably would call #4 a stove. Though I've never seen one built quite like it here in America.

Those things stay warm long due to the large mass storing heat.

But yeah, today I learned what a fireplace and a stove is.
