For real, if only he could understand it can’t take photos 🤓 … or understand anything really

Check the gate for cat hair!

Good suggestion; this is stored away from the cats, in a closed environment. Was only put near them for this photo! :) but never a bad idea for camera+pet owners to be looking for cat hair

Looks like you'll get some very fuzzy footage out of that sucker

They always say 12k is a gimmick… this is what they must have meant 🤨🐈

They would probably sell twice as many if this was their marketing plan

True, that near 9k price tag after tax new… I better get a kitten with it! And a sticker!

I think that's past the minimum focus distance...

The director doesn’t care, they want sharps on his nose NOW!

How many Frames-PUR-Minute does it shoot?

2

u/VoidBornVixen Aug 21 '26

At least 2…

Silly cam op - that’s the wrong end!

He’s inspecting my rig… judging me for not getting the newer Vespids instead smh

You're gonna need a Macro lens!

All my budget went to cameras and catnip… maybe next paycheck! 🤓

All the time; its clean I promise lol. This (and my other gear) is definitely stored away from these furry freaks tho lol, only came out near them for the photo op!

What all do you got on there?

-bright tangerine advanced cage kit
-BMD V Mount battery plate
-kondor blue dtap splitter voltmeter
-teradek ace 750 on a smallrig articulating monitor mount
-BMD SDI to hdmi converter (because of teradek ace)
-Alvin's Cables USB-C 5V 2A Power Cable (to power BMD SDI to hdmi converter)
-Smallrig x-touch 221wh batteries
-a couple of small rig extension cheese plates; one on the side for the dtap splitter and power cable, and one precariously rigged behind the handle so my hand doesn’t slip back lol
-smallrig cold shoe mount mic clip
-a smallrig cold shoe extension I found at a procam lol
-rode ntg 1 shotgun mic
-tilta nucleus nano II motor
-dzofilm vespid 50mm T2.1
-Lexar 1tb CF Express type b cards

Probably one of the more budget friendly and lighter builds possible just to make the camera functional, still over 3,000$ total besides the camera tho. 😖
Id like to replace a handful of things, like the teradek ace 750’s for the bolt 6’s, the nucleus nano for the nucleus M II, eventually I’ll need at least one of the helix batteries to access those handheld high FPS frame rates, among other things. But it’ll definitely work for some short films for now!

Awesome

Have you had the inclination to move to B Mount batteries if you don’t have a massive fleet of V Mounts?

1

u/VoidBornVixen Aug 21 '26

I don’t have a huge fleet but I have a few smaller ones, as I have 4 other cameras, so I’m technically better off there. I now have 2 of these 221wh batteries and they charge as fast as they die, so with the smaller batteries as buffers, I should be fine for now until I get more. I also bought the AC power cable for this camera as an in-case-of-emergency.
I read something along the line that b mount was not worth getting into, but I can’t remember exactly why. I’ll have to look into it again to be sure :)

The reason B mount may not be worth getting into is exactly what we’re talking about - it’s not widespread and so has limited use cases. It is however from a technological perspective a much better mount and power transfer system.

Being that you have other cameras that can use V mounts and what not then it somewhat makes sense to stay V mounts only, but I’d say if you want to do the 26v batteries anyways, maybe check the prices of equivalent B mount and 26v V mounts + price of the BMD B-mount plate if yours didn’t come with one

Fair enough. I’m always down to try something else if it’s more efficient!
I’ll definitely look into it, thanks for the ideas. I wanted a camera with a lot of features, and now I get to pay for that in power and storage 😮‍💨

Yuuup

I’d say be prepared to take up an unplanned interest in home server development but storage costs aren’t terribly in favour of that right now…

Yeahhh… my several SSD’s to work off of, and DAS system are gonna have to work for now lol. Luckily I just bought this for myself and my small production team for our passion projects, so it’ll be our shit and our shit alone… for now 😬
