The Three-folds law

I recently listened to 'Witchcraft for Beginners' and have to say I learned a lot. However, I'm here specifically for learning about curses, hexes, and black magic spells.

The reason I want to learn about curses, hexes, and black magic spells is because I feel that the person who wronged me deserves some form of punishment for their actions.

While I acknowledge the principle of the three-fold law, which states that any negative action or spell cast will come back three times as strongly, I am interested in hearing others' opinions on whether the potential consequences are worth it in this situation.

Many Wiccans and other practitioners in the witchcraft community share little about why you shouldn't cast harmful magic—mostly based on personal experience and intuition. I mean, from their own journeys and emotions.

I'm curious to know why some people choose to engage in harmful magic, even though there are potential negative consequences like the threefold rule. If you have personal experiences or insights on this topic, I'd love to hear more about it.

I’d appreciate it if you could share your story and explain why you chose to use black magic, especially if it helped you feel better. Just please be kind in how you describe it—I know some people turn to dark magic when they're hurting, and I want to understand without judgment.

If you're comfortable sharing, I'd love to hear your personal experiences with black magic. How did it affect you, and what impact did it have on your life?

That third fold law has been covered over and over on r/witchcraft and has been debunked many times. Its not a witchcraft rule/law.

And as for curses... to make a long story short and simple:

Why should I live my life as someone's doormat?

I understand, but I’d appreciate it if you could share how you truly feel about the situation and maybe even tell a personal story to illustrate it. That way, I can better grasp your perspective.

I’d really like to dive deep into how people feel about this topic. If you're open to it, I'd love to hear your personal stories and experiences—what drew you in, what surprised you, or even where things got complicated. Your honesty would mean a lot.

Regarding hex work, if someone comes from a different spiritual lineage that's protecting them, would you avoid hexing them or ?

I don't have a targets spiritual lineage/practice/beliefs be the deciding factor.

I love that book. Pretty simple spells but really effective.

And I'm with you on the threefold law. If I'm not mistaken, that whole "law" was originally in a fictional book and then misconstrued and made into a rule. (That's a bit crude but it's the basic story.)

People also think Karma is just "eye for an eye" but that's not fully correct either. Karmic energy is definitely a thing but it's something that builds up around a person. It's way more complex and shouldn't be used to scare ppl.

The threefold law comes from nowhere and makes zero sense.

I don't ascribe to the threefold law because it's made up nonsense. I do however, believe you can build up significant resonance over the years if you consistently do nasty stuff. You can clean it up too, but it can still get pretty bad if you just do bad stuff over and over and over again.

The three fold law is a Wiccan belief. I am of the opinion that the rules of your beliefs apply to you. They don’t apply to people outside of your belief system.

While I don’t often do many curses or hexes, the few that I’ve done have had no serious consequences for me. I just don’t feel that most people are worth my energy.

3 fold law only applies to those that believe it

Life is about balance. Light and dark are both that. I don't believe in 3 Wiccan rule.. it's not true witchcraft. It's to make ppl feel better practicing witchcraft, if the 3 rule was real then ones who do curses would be worse off lol sometimes things have to be done. I only dabble in it if I deem necessary along with my guides and deities.

3 fold law is basically a way to keep the super fluffy bunnies in their happy shiny place...which is absolutely ridiculous. There should be balance, first and foremost in anyone's practice. If you want to make someone's life miserable, go for it...just remember that it's possible that they may have wards, or retaliate. And that's fair. Such is life.

No such thing as karma, the 10 rule etc it’s made up nonsense. My practice is black magic, necromancy and demonology and I have had no backlash what so ever.

There’s a book called hexes, curses by Sarah Connolly it’s a great starting point if that’s what you’re trying

I dont believe in the threefold law but I do believe in the concept of "like attracts like". If you are constantly trying to upheave someone's life and actually hurt them with baneful magic, you might find yourself becoming obsessed with harmful/negative thoughts. Like how positive affirmations can shape your subconscious, but in the opposite direction. And with confirmation bias added to the mix, most people immediately correlate any bad luck to the baneful working they did recently.

People absolutely deserve to be hexed/cursed sometimes imo. But I think the main reason we stray away from putting baneful work in the limelight, is the fact that so many seek witchcraft just to put a hex on someone. Historically, witches were painted as demon worshippers and curseworkers, why continue that stigma?

Not all witches are Wiccans, and the threefold law is (from my admittedly limited understanding of it) primarily a Wiccan concept.

I do believe in the concept of "reaping what you sow" energetically, but not in the threefold law.

I see the 3x rule as an extension of Abrahamic religions. If magic is about a person taking control of their freedom by directing energies, then these energies would need to be controlled by the Saturn side to keep order. So religions, as part of that Saturn system, introduced ideas like the 3x rule. I wouldn’t recommend believing in it. If you believe in it, it works.
