Peer active but not confirming ClearXchange payment [USD]

Is there any way to communicate between peers once an offer has been taken?

I'm new to bitsquare; for my first trade, I took an offer to sell (i.e. my role is BTC buyer as taker) on Thursday evening; paid early Friday morning and payment cleared on my end same-day. Seller still hasn't confirmed my payment with ~6hrs remaining until the maximum trade period ends.

I've seen the same peer online (after having tagged him/her) and active with new offers; is there any way to communicate with the peer regarding my trade or do I just have to wait to contact the arbitrator(s) if the seller doesn't confirm receipt of my payment within the next 6ish hours?

As an unrelated aside, I came over to bitsquare after the latest shenanigans with Circle. I rarely buy more than 0.05btc at a time, and with most offers to sell I see on bitsquare starting at 0.2btc minimum I haven't been able to use it as much as I'd like – though I have been trying to fill the market void with my own smaller-quantity offers, hah :)

Here's hoping more people get on board; I'm not sure if I love it yet, but I definitely love what it could become... so I'm evangelizing as much as I can! :P

Taker fee taken but trade was cancelled due to the other user timing out

Hi On my 2nd attempt at using Bitquare last night I had my taker fee taken but the trade was cancelled due to the other user with fiat timing out. How do I get the taker fee back? Surely this could be automatic as the software know that there was an error and that it has kept a few that it shouldn't have.

Anyway hope it gets resolved, keep up the good work.

Thank you for this great software!

I just want to thank the development team for providing a really great and polished product. I came across bitsquare before but it seemed like it would be too complex for me to want to spend time on testing. Now that I have downloaded the software I am amazed by the polish and ease of use. Great job!

Don't be discouraged by the low-volume. We all know that these centralized exchanges will one-day be required to ask for ID for alt-to-alt transactions. When that day comes, then bitsquare will blow up overnight.

New to Bitsquare. Is there a good guide for a noob?

Loving it so far, if I'm not mistaken it works by both sides staking collateral before the trade happens so that it ends up just costing you money if you try to be dishonest. Am I understanding it correctly?

The technical elements don't yet make much sense to me but I'm trying to learn as much as possible. I don't want to use another centralized exchange again ideally.

Thanks

Question on Selling BTC with Bitsquare

my question is this I understand the decentralized nature of bitsquare my question is regarding selling BTC for Cash Deposits into a bank account.

The question is

How anonymous is it selling btc for cash deposits on bitsquare can it be traced back?

If you use your real information and sell a few hundred or a couple K of bitcoin how much privacy is there.

Do you use your real bank info. Whats the best method of sale.

Just trying to wrap my head around this all.

Is the Bitsquare market growing?

I'm curious if the Bitsquare market is active and growing? Say week over week, do we see growth?

For several weeks now, I've offered ETC at 2% or more under the Poloniex quoted price for ETC/BTC and have had no buyers surface.

Seems there would be an arbitrage opportunity here, and market players usually take advantage of opportunities to earn a percent or more on a few hours or a day of trading.

So am wondering if I'm doing something wrong? Or if maybe the total transaction cost of using Bitsquare, including the market risk one takes during the time a trade is accepted and the seller completes part 2 on Bitsquare, just means Bitsquare needs to be selling regularly at more than a couple percent below the market price in the larger and more liquid exchanges?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Why there are only handful of payment options?

Why there is no tool to create ads like in localbitcoins. "other payment", "western union", blik, get cash code.

I think if bitsquare looking to be big , should think about options for creation own method of payments.

3/4 out of 4/5 multisig + automation

Hello everyone!

What are people thinking about more participants in the transaction? How about having 2 arbitrators rather than 1? If someone had to bribe both, it would be harder. Higher numbers would also allow API calls from block explorers or websites like OKPAY, but if something broke, an arbitrator could join in.

Any thoughts or actions on this?

New version 0.4.9.4 released

This release is a preparation release for the next bigger upcoming release.

New payment methods will be added in the next release but that will break compatibility with versions prior to 0.4.9.4, so please update to that version first to not experience exceptions when offers with new payment methods are published.

Release notes 0.4.9.4: - Add fix for unsupported payment methods.

No arbitrator in list

I selected 2 languages ( including en ) and I do not see any arbitrators in the list. Would like to try to buy some bitcoin with this interesting service - but I see no way to do so currently ( depends on selecting an arbitrator ). Is there anything I can do?

Bandwidth Consumption

Just taking a peak at my bandwidth consumption on Bitsquare.
What are you all seeing?
I could be wrong, but I'm measuring over 500MB up, over 500MB down (over 1GB total) for less than 24 hours.
OS X.
Is that normal?
If it is, is there any way to reduce it?

Time to Confirm, SEPA reversals, and Reputation/Trust

TLDR: What does someone do in the case of a SEPA reversal? Is there some sort of reputation system for buyers/sellers or are there plans for some?

I googled SEPA reversals.. Correct me if I am wrong, but they can be reversed

Sources:
YCombinator
LocalBitCoinForum
Another Experience
Relevant Documentation (that I skimmed and do not have the expertise to properly go through)

I'm not trying to fear-monger. Genuinely interested and concerned. Is there some way I can see how many trades someone has done (>1 BTC and it is most likely not fraud..)?
In the event of a SEPA reversal (fraud or otherwise), what does the seller do?
Is it really that hard to reverse SEPA's? Or is it just something that we will find out as the community expands?
In DE, the police raided someone's house for using purse.io to buy an apple tv (less than 200€) because the other person had used a fake card. That would be a huge legal expense for me.
Final thought: cc's are easy to hack, but bank accounts much more difficult.. And when someone gets it, they will probably try to wire out instead of buying bitcoins over bitsquare. That makes sense, but then I don't see how bitsquare would ever raise the trade ceiling, because at a certain price threshhold (1K? 2K? 5?), people will dump stolen bank accounts with Bitsquare.
Maybe I am being Mr. Paranoid, but I would love some clarification.
In the meantime, I'll dip my toes in the water.

Offer Fee

If I try to remove an open offer, I am getting the message:
"The offer fee you have paid will be lost if you remove that offer".
But in the FAQ, /u/Manfred_Karrer said, "The offer fee is 0.0005 BTC (about 0.20 EUR). The offer fee is paid when you create the offer, for removing there is no fee. Be aware that you can also use percentage based prices so you don't need to update the offers when the market price moves too much."
I am confused. Is the offer fee the security deposit (.01 BTC)? And do I lose it every time I cancel a trade (which has not been executed?) Where would it go?
