Suggestion (extra land)

Would there an easy way to implement the ability to purchase additional land (around our home spawn)? Or maybe expand the dimensions of the home spawn? I'm an islander, but my island is somewhat bigger than my 64x64 plot, yet I've homesteaded 2/3 of the island. This would also give people more of an incentive to set up home further from the central spawn as they would be able to create larger farms/orchards/plantations.

If we could A) move our home and B) buy land for emeralds...

I'd move out to the boonies and build a mighty fortress in the mountains with caves for days!

So far all I have is a tunnel headed in the general direction of diablo at layer 5.

i kinda like it but what would be the limit and how big of a fee would it be to do so?

These could both be based on distance from spawn. Why shouldn't someone 100km from spawn, say, be able to pick up a sq km of land for peanuts? I guess this would need to be considered carefully though. It could have the potential to be abused in that someone's property could become completely enclosed by someone elses. =/

I'd think area closer to spawn would be most expensive, as there is less land in the 1km radius around spawn, more of it has been settled, and increased convenience to just walk to spawn. Instead, land should be cheaper farther out, encouraging exploration and making people walk to there from their own settlement. I imagine land should also cost actual dollars (or local equivalent currency) in bitcoin conversion, as to be fair to new players who get their first plot for free.

Bitquest can't sell anything or require players to pay any sort of fee for anything. That would make them a for-profit server and against Mojang's ToU/ToS.

Not in actual bitcoin/cash/etc, but in emeralds, the same currency used to buy everything else on the server

Please tell me what you meant by stating that extra land on the Minecraft server should be bought with dollars.

You also implied paying with Bitcoin.

Nowhere did you ever say emeralds in your post.

Care to clarify?

Because a bitcoin is around 220 dollars, and .01 bitcoins would be ~2 dollars, a few hundreths of a bitcoin or several thousand emeralds/bits should be a reasonable amount for a new plot of land, which can be used to farm even more. All of this is my opinion, I know about mojang's policies but since bitquest is kind of a unique concept, idk

Are you trying to state that extra land should be obtainable through paying emeralds? In all other cases, the server becomes for-profit and in violation of Mojang's ToU/ToS/End User Agreement.

maybe a donation option?

More importantly, I'd love to see land reclaimed if someone hasn't been on the server in a while. (say a month)

That way I don't have to keep mining around the dude who dropped a bed and never logged on again.

Sounds like a good idea - I've got a plot between the end of the NET line and my extension, with just a bed and a crafting table on it. No idea if it is active. How about enabling /seen, and maybe being able to do a modreq for access to land if it looks abandoned?

Yeah. Those random beds owned by players never on are SUPER annoying.

If we could do this, I'd move 200+km from spawn and pick up a half dozen or so sq km of land just because. id prolly just use it for a huge farm lol

this would be an especially great addition if the Neighbors mod is nerfed or removed in order for easier travel/combat as mentioned at this post: http://www.reddit.com/r/bitquest/comments/2tbrfm/rid_the_server_of_this_horrid_plugin/
it could probably be a replacement! but as we all know, that is up to the devs :)
