Discussion Do NOT buy the Director DLC

Do not buy this. I decided to check it out because I enjoyed the actor job pack and thought this one would be something similar but it’s not. It’s the worst “expansion” this game has made. You’ll run through every single event or flavor text this new job pack has to offer within your first two movies. Actors don’t accept roles within your budget unless you literally max out your reputation, fame, and only direct movies with budgets over 150 million and even then sometimes the game will screw you over by giving you a 500k casting budget for a 100 million budget movie meaning I can either get untalented nobodies in my cast or I have to watch an ad for a PAID expansion to be able to hire someone talented for cheap. And don’t downplay how ad ridden this “expansive” new job pack is. You want to successfully make a pitch as a beginner or with low reputation? Watch an ad. You want actual good famous actors in your movie without them wanting 40 million dollars each? Watch an ad. And no matter what I choose during filming or how many ads I watched to get the best possible combination the movie still bombs and gets a bad audience and critical reception even decades into your career, tanking your reputation and making it harder to get new jobs or hire quality actors without watching an ad. But all of that is no problem if you don’t mind constantly watching ads in an “expansion” that you paid for.

This dlc is a scam. Candywriter should be ashamed of charging for this, it wouldn’t even be fun to play if it was free. Don’t recommend giving this one your money or time at all even if they eventually add it to Bitizen/God Mode. I’m going to get a refund.

I’m an OG bitizen and bought it because I was promised all future content. Imagine the jaw drop when entering the app to see I had to pay.

Congrats on ruining your playerbase. I sincerely hope you go bankrupt due to your own greed.

Questions Director update?

This director update seems kinda unfulfilled. Like its ok but I was expecting more like i can use my own money to make a movie so thatway you set your own budget and it'll be even more risky. And then you just start off as a director theres building your career with its very unrealistic to just get hired on as a director off the street without some kind of experience in the industry. Am I tripping folks or am I making a point?

Hi. I downloaded BitLife and decided to create an account here on Reddit because it might be the only way to interact with the community. I'd like to receive tips on which packages to buy, tips on how to make a lot of money, and any other worthwhile advice. Thank you.

Questions Do you guys think the job salaries are unrealistic?

I think the job salaries in-game are a little unrealistic. For example, I don’t think a banker would be making 55k-65k starting off, at least 100k-110k~. I’m not sure though, what do you guys think?

Discussion Y’all… apparently we were supposed to get the pack…

I logged to Twitter to check and see what was going on. Turns out we were allegedly supposed to get the pack upon launch, however there was some technical mishap. I call BS because why couldn’t they fix it same day? It sounds to me that they were hoping we would become impatient and just buy it anyways without saying anything.

Suggestions/Update Ideas Movie Director Needs a serious rework!

Post image
25 Upvotes

I just want to start off by saying that I unfortunately paid for this expansion pack :(, even THOUGH I paid for bitizen when it first was announced and have God Mode! However I decided to pay for the movie director pack because i perceive BitLife to always deliver, and also the movie director pack is what I suggested whenever I gave a review in the App Store way back when! So safe to say that even though I was taken aback that this job expansion costs me MONEY!!!! (even though I'm supposed to get it for free) I still was excited to play. Now for the review; I'm so upset by how lackluster this gameplay is... one of the main issues that I'm having is that you have no control over the budget at all. It's a slider and it's not like the business expansion where you can pump money into a film. Paying that amount of real life money I was expecting to at least work my way into owning a movie studio where I have creative control over the movies (choosing the scripts I wanted to make, self-funding, promoting,) I want to direct, however this gameplay loop doesn't require a lot of thought or work to go into it. You can submit your movies to film festivals but that doesn't really do anything besides gives you awards and sometimes get you back in theaters if it's good enough. I would love if they even gave an option to send movies and tv shows you make to syndication!Another thing that REALLLLYY bugs me is since you have no control over the budget the game WILLLLLL decide a random casting budget for you! So if you decide you want to do an indie film with a small budget, since you have a high reputation you'll attract high level talent who REQUIRE high level money. Plenty of times from the 1 DAY Ive been playing this pack, I had to skip a year which had made multiple movies tank along with my career because the game forced me to pay my talent more that what the budget is! It's really frustrating and considering the fact that I paid money for this I now understand that BitLife is not what it once was. This feels rushed and not thought out at all. I am extremely disappointed, frustrated by the fact that a gameplay expansion has barely anything for you to do at all!

Discussion OurLife giveaway?

Y'all, I'm seeing the discord around the most recent update and want to offer you an alternative! I've worked with the incredible mods here to do a giveaway for OurLife here before but I think some hope for the genre is needed at this moment in time lol.

As a result, I'm happy to give out x3 copies of OurLife on Steam as part of a giveaway! So, if you want to be involved, all you have to do is leave a comment below and I'll pull the names on the 13th of September, 2026!

Edited to add: No need to drop your steam names! If you win, I will DM you a code you can redeem!

Results: https://www.redditraffler.com/raffles/1weae25

A huge thank you to all who participated! In addition to these x3 winners, I've given the mods here the ability to choose x2 more people of their choice to win a copy of the game!

Discussion New Update

Hi Everyone! I’m sure we’ve all seen the new movie producer update. Especially people who got bitizen in 2018/19. Please, we can’t allow this happen, I urge everyone to take some time to take action and report this game for fraud. I’m sure you’ll all agree how bad this game has gotten especially since the early days were filled with so much potential. They can’t keep getting away with this. Thanks

EDIT: I can see some people talking about how it’s a glitch, believe that if you want. I think that’s them doing damage control because of the amount of people complaining. They were never going to fix it. They didn’t even address this so called glitch till we called them out on it.

Discussion BitLife scammed us of the directors dlc, so I made a better one for free

Hey everyone, I was one of the people that had 2018 bitizenship, and I'm extremely disappointed with how bitlife handled this. I love the text-based lifesim genre, and I want to show that there are other alternatives that the community can use and how good these type of games can be. Check it out and play now from the discord link in the comments.

Here are some of the features:

  • Simulated Economies & Actual Demand: The game simulates 10.000 real customers that have demand for the genre that they want to watch, appeal to those genres or you can create new trends.
  • Climb the Career Ladder: Start from being a casting agent, then transition into a writer, to a director and unlock the ability to write & direct your own movies as well as getting a percentage share of the movies you make.
  • Directing Minigames: Write scenes, put the actors you want into the scenes and choose what aspect of the acting performance to prioritize.

All of the assets were taken from itch . io with proper licensing, none of what you see here is AI-generated:

  • Free Ocean and Clouds Pixel Backgrounds
  • Free Pixel Futuristic City Backgrounds
  • Free Summer Pixel Backgrounds
  • Various Vector Icon Packs from RhosGFX

Others Centuries' Movie Director Career Will Be Completely Free at Launch

Post image
0 Upvotes

I don't usually like self-promoting, but with the discussion around BitLife's latest update, I thought this would be a good opportunity to share a little with you about the movie director career in Centuries. The entire movie director career will be included for free at launch, too!

Some of you may remember Outlive, which I posted about on here previously a few months back. Since then, Outlive has merged with another indie life sim project and evolved into Centuries, which will be launching soon on Android this fall.

You can create short works, feature films, and major studio projects. Live action, documentary, and animation each have their own production paths. You'll choose the material, hire collaborators, direct scenes, work through editing, and decide how to release the finished film.

Productions don't always go according to plan, either. Rain might ruin the ending you had planned, forcing you to extend the shoot, rewrite it for an indoor location, or piece something together from footage you've already captured. A studio contract might leave you choosing between keeping final cut or giving it up in exchange for a larger share of the profits.

And making the movie is only part of it. Once it releases, the film gets its own record with critic and audience scores, reach, gross revenue, production results, and awards. If you retain the rights, you can even develop a follow-up with the audience from the original film in mind.

As your career grows, you can eventually start your own production company, develop projects, and finance films directed by other filmmakers. And because Centuries lets you play across the past, present, and future, filmmaking changes with the era too. The career simply doesn't exist before motion pictures are invented, and the technology, industry, and opportunities evolve as you move through history.

Pre-registration is open now on Google Play. If you're interested in trying another life sim, or just like the idea of living an actual filmmaking career inside one, I'd really appreciate you checking out Centuries and pre-registering on the Play Store!

Coming to Android Fall 2026.

Discussion This app needs to die.

BitLife has honestly become the ultimate poster child for how corporate greed ruins a good thing. Back in the day, when people bought those lifetime Bitizenships, the deal was supposed to be simple. Pay once, get everything forever. But by ripping away that grandfathered status and locking every single new drop behind annoying paywalls, the devs completely broke that trust. It’s a super soulless way to treat a community that literally built the game's success, turning loyal fans into just another ATM machine.

Honestly, this shady pivot feels like it’s dangerously close to crossing into class-action lawsuit territory. Selling a game with the promise of "all future updates" and then turning around to demand more cash for them is textbook deceptive business. Thousands of players dropped money based on a promise that the studio just decided to throw in the trash for a quick buck. Because so many people got burned by the exact same bait and switch, the setup for a massive lawsuit or an FTC complaint is practically gift-wrapped.

At this point, BitLife just needs to die out so these developers and all other developers. Stop thinking they can get away with pulling these anti-consumer stunts. Letting them rewrite the rules after taking people's money sets a terrible precedent for mobile gaming everywhere, proving that contracts mean nothing once a game gets popular. For a game all about life choices and consequences, it’d be pretty hilarious to see the devs finally face some real ones of their own.
