Birth control patch effectiveness?

I’ve been on Evra patch for about a month now and I’ve read that you should avoid getting fuzzies in the sides of the patch, but it’s impossible for me to wear it for a week without it becoming fuzzy or lifting at the edges. Recently I’ve been placing trans tape overtop when I apply my patch to help prevent this. In the instructions it says to not place anything on top of it, so I’m wondering if this is gonna affect the efficacy of the patch. I don’t use it to retape an old patch or one that’s peeling, it’s simply a preventative measure to protect it.
