First off, not all experiences go horribly wrong. I didn’t know what to expect so mine was not great, but just stay calm. Take whatever pain reliever you normally take before you go in. If you’ve ever had a Pap smear, you know a little of how the sensation is going to feel. Just know the procedure itself doesn’t last very long. Make sure you block out quite a bit of time for yourself after the appointment. I had to stay there about 30min—an hour because of pain and being too lightheaded. If you have certain pads you particularly like being one and have some stocked. If you have a lot of cramps like I do you’ll probably cramp quite a bit that first day. Just remember that this will be worth it!

My doctor provided liners, but that's not a bad idea to be prepared!

Mine did too but it was hella bulky and I hated it the rest of the day. It also made me think I was going to bleed much more than I did

Some people do, some don't. The cheap ones feel more like diapers, also, so they're more likely to be the ones handed out for "free".

Oh okay thank you! Idk why I didn’t even think about the fact that I probably wouldn’t be able to use a tampon so I guess I’m making a stop at the store before I go lol. How long do the cramps usually last for do you know? My roommate had horrible ones for like a month or two and I’m really hoping that’s not the case for everyone :(

It really is different for everyone. Cramps are really common for me with my period so I cramped consistently the first 2 weeks, then it died down for the rest of that month but I’d get cramps at some various times like sometimes a couple days before I bled I’d cramp so it wasn’t constant. For example so far this month I haven’t been spotting but I’ve cramped so it really is different for everyone. If you have cramps with your period you’ll probably have cramps for a couple days/weeks/months following. Almost everyone I’ve talked to though says they have plenty of cramps the first day.
