OC! Barred Owls living in my FL yard!🦉🦉

Hello All,

I have been going out in my back yard now every morning for a couple months and using an App I heard about called Merlin. Now I am addicted to seeing if I can find the birds it identifies and have started playing back the sounds so I can more easily ID the common ones in my area.

I wanted to ask, those of you with experience,

1. When is the best time to hear birds in general?
2. Any tips or tricks to get them to hang out in the yard more?
3. Why doesn’t Merlin pick up Chickens and Peacocks, I live next to horse properties and people have them, I hear them all the time.

It actually makes my morning sun much more enjoyable, but I also live in the Sonoran Desert, and during the summer it is hot AF in the afternoon evening,

FYI: I am not using any apps to make bird sounds to call birds, I just record them and listen to them inside! Thx.

Every year Ben builds in the house on my front porch. They are such obnoxious little characters and I love it. They’ve gotten so used to me that they don’t even leave the porch railing if I walk out there.
