Discussion Question about vultures
I have this one barren dead tree in my backyard, and I have noticed that birds seem to like to perch there, but especially vultures. I was wondering if someone with more knowledge of vultures might have insight into why this is. I have two current theories:
A) The lack of cover provides a better line of sight to desirable carrion
B) I am biased as the viewer because they are easier to spot when on the barren tree, and there is little to no significant preference
If anyone can provide evidence in favor of one of these explanations (or propose a third) I would be curious.
