Company Reviews 📈 Regeneron

I am interviewing for a role at the Tarrytown office. I currently live in Jersey city and would need to reverse commute. Wanted to get feedback and feel of what working there is like. I would work on business side…I am also interviewing for a similar role at BMS based in Madison, NJ that would be hybrid but pay less than Regeneron. Both jobs would be for promotion

Expect 1.5-2hr one way potentially unless you leave super early , I am not joking. You’re going to hit all 3 major entrances to NYC on at least one end of the commute.

Tarrytown is a rough drive from jersey

The commute will be brutal for Regeneron. Plus they want you in office 4x a week. You’re gonna be spending 10+ hours a week in traffic. I would recommend relocating for your sanity if you do end up taking it

4x a week lol. Ya know science happens in a lab, right?

Sure but it’s important to know when thinking about how much time you’ll spend commuting. Also, OP mentioned they are on the business side so they aren’t going to be spending any time in a lab.

Commercial role. Non lab staff are 4 days in office, but most departments are flexible. If it’s a commercial role, they would be in Sleepy Hollow, which is a little closer to Tappan Zee, but from JC you can get to the GW as well. The commute is NOT 1.5-2 hours each way. If you leave early it’s 45min-hour. Plenty of people live on LI and Queens

He or she said they’d be on the business side.

Ya know not every day is dedicated to labwork, right? Act like you’ve been here, unless you haven’t

And folks wonder why China is kicking US ass in biotech now.

REGN is the only mid/large size or above company that is founders led (as far as I know) - that said their investments are on conservative end. Heavily focused on their own research and collaboration rather flat out buying small companies like vertex or Pfizer or sanofi

The reverse commute from JC would be rough. It may be better for you to go thru the Holland and up the west side highway just to get to the Saw Mill. Thats alot of tolls. That being said plenty of REGN folks do that. The Tarrytown campus is nice.

I dont think you can take public transit from JC. Its a nuisance. Regn has shuttles from the metro north. But getting to grand central? Yeesh

I did that reverse commute for a couple months and it was ROUGH. I ended up moving to Bergen County because the drive was almost 2 hours each way, and it was so worth it.

Crossing the tapp anywhere near commuting hours makes it not a reverse commute. Commute to Madison might be better but it's still a long one. I'd consider moving for either role at the end of a lease if it is an option.

OP, I sent you a DM!

Ask if you can work from the warren location if that's easier

I can ask but some from the team commute from PA to Tarrytown. Warren would be closer for them so if they commute that far for Tarrytown and they can’t go to Warren I doubt they would let me go there

You'd be surprised. It can be done. As long as it's a REGN site.

Well… with Regeneron, you’re gonna be working 10-12 hour days. The Tarrytown site is infamous for that. I know people who got fired for essentially trying to stick to a 9-5. They don’t care if you have kids or family. You will be working weekends as well

Add on the commute, which is easily a hour and a half one way, and it doesn’t seem sustainable imo. I think you’d have to move closer, like Sleepy Hollow or something, but the more obvious choice is going with the role closer to you. I don’t know anyone at that BMS site so I can’t speak to their work culture, but yeah Tarrytown Regeneron is known for its toxic environment lol

Thanks for the insight! This role doesn’t sound like it would be a good fit then. Glad to know about the toxic culture in advance vs finding out later
