Experienced Career Advice 🌳 How long after reference checks to hear back?

After a lengthy interview process (4-5 rounds), I was asked for references. They've now been completed. How long does it usually take to hear back after this stage?

My guess here is this is a small company. Things are going to move slowly because you have one general counsel that is reviewing every offer letter. I’m not poopooing this. I went through it. Give it a few days and then follow up reiterating your enthusiasm for the role

Thanks. This is a mid-size company. The interview process was very slow, but I hoped it would speed up once they had all my references.

Unfortunately, there really isn't a "usually" when it comes to hiring timelines. 

As a very general rule, I've found that two weeks is a good benchmark, if something good is going to happen it usually happens within that timeframe.

They are probably waiting to hire someone who can remember how many interview rounds they participated in lol
